CONSISTENCY IN HOLIDAYS: INCREASED NUMERACY SUPPORT AVAILABILITY

Our educator Kate will have increased availability for high frequency numeracy support sessions over the holiday period.
This is a perfect opportunity to catch up on any skills missed in previous years and to strengthen foundational skills before new content is introduced next year.

Sessions will still be 1:1 and individualised to meet the child where they are at and to help them get where they want to be.
A goal of these high frequency numeracy support sessions is also to assist in maintaining consistency and routine over the holiday period, which can be particularly helpful for neurodivergent families. This can help ease the transition into the new school year, reduce academic anxieties and increase confidence.

In addition to numeracy skills, Kate can also support young people wanting to build strong foundational skills (including the 8 areas of executive function) such as:
• reading a timetable
• note-taking and revision study methods
• creating and following a schedule
• recognising complex tasks and breaking them down into manageable steps
• identifying priority tasks and due dates
• understanding and advocating for their own learning needs

Session frequency and duration is flexible and dependent on your child’s needs. Kate has availability for sessions to be held Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 11am-6pm.

Send an enquiry through to organise a free 15-minute call to discuss how we can best support your child.

WHAT IS NUMERACY SUPPORT?

Numeracy support is a service where young people can work one-on-one with a professional educator to develop, maintain and increase their numeracy skills. Numeracy skills are foundational to our everyday life, and many young people require support to be competent and confident in using these necessary skills.

Numeracy support at New Leaf Therapy will look different for each young person as they will have a plan developed that is tailored to them and their unique goals.

Goals in numeracy support may focus on skill building in a specific concept-based area such as money, time or measurement; goals may also focus on building confidence in the practical application of numeracy skills in appropriate settings.

If you have any questions or believe your young person would benefit from this support, please complete the contact form on our website https://newleaftherapy.net.au/contact-us/ and we will do our best to assist you.

New Leaf Therapy is excited to announce that our newest staff member Kate will now be offering tailored numeracy support for young people aged 6-14.

Kate holds a bachelor’s degree in Primary Education and is passionate about building young people’s mathematical confidence and competence. She has experience working with young people and understands the negative impact that standard education and tutoring can have on some families. Kate has lived experience as a neurodivergent individual and considers her neurodivergence a personal and professional asset. Her unique perspectives enable her to create a safe and supportive environment where young people can thrive.

This support may be covered by NDIS funding for those who are plan or self-managed (including early intervention).

If you have any questions or believe your young person would benefit from this support, please complete the contact form on our website https://newleaftherapy.net.au/contact-us/ and we will do our best to assist you.
