When GST was introduced in 2000, the Parliament was clear all health goods and services should be GST exempt. At that stage, Exercise Physiology was an emerging allied health and was not included in the schedule of 21 health services designated GST free.
We are asking the Government and Parliament to modernise Section 38-10 of the A New Tax System (Goods and Services Tax) Act 1999 to reflect the intended treatment of allied services and add Exercise Physiology to the list of GST free services. This will require a determination from Minister Butler. Exercise Physiology has been a MBS recognised health care service since 2006. We are highly motivated to help Australians reach their health goals at all their stages of life.
