We’ve just released a revised fact sheet to support people living with MND and their families: "Considering a feeding tube (PEG)"
Developed in partnership with Flinders Medical Centre and people with lived experience, this resource explains:
• what a feeding tube is
• when it may help
• what to expect
It’s designed to support early planning, informed decision-making, and maintaining nutrition and weight.
Importantly, people living with MND helped shape this resource, guiding the language, highlighting real considerations, and ensuring it’s practical, clear, and relevant.
The factsheet covers:
• how feeding tubes can support nutrition, hydration, medications, and weight stability
• why planning early can make the procedure safer and recovery easier
• reassurance that many people can still eat and drink by mouth
• personal decision-making, including choosing to have, or not have, a feeding tube
