Dear Community,

After a wonderful five-year journey, I am sad to announce the closure of Calm Kids: Counselling and Wellbeing Services at the end of this school term. This decision comes with a heavy heart, but also with deep gratitude for the incredible experiences and connections we've had.

Firstly, I want to thank our amazing team. Caiti, who finished with us today to begin her maternity leave, has been a vital part of our team. Her work with our play therapy clients has touched countless hearts, and we anticipate the arrival of her beautiful new baby with much joy and excitement. Thank you, Caiti - it has been an absolute privilege to work alongside you.

Claire, another cherished member of our team, will continue her therapy work under her own venture, The Olive Branch. Most of our clients will transition to her capable hands, and I'm excited to follow her journey. Working with Claire has been such a pleasure, and I’m so glad she will remain with us until the term's end. Please keep an eye out for a link to her practice!

Reflecting on these last five years fills me with immense pride and gratitude. We've had the privilege of working with over 400 incredible children and families supported by an incredible team: Caiti, Claire, Rebecca, Mariana, Deb, and Laura. Each of these talented therapists has contributed to making a positive difference in the lives of our clients and their families.

Creating Calm Kids has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. It's a bittersweet moment to say goodbye, but I am stepping away to focus on significant personal commitments, including my wonderful granddaughter and soon-to-arrive new grandbaby.

Thank you to every child, parent, and colleague who has been part of our journey. Your support and trust have meant the world to us, and we are so grateful for the opportunity to have served you.

While this chapter closes, I remain hopeful for the future and am excited for what comes next for all of us.

With warmest regards,

Danielle 🙏☀️

In a world that is growing louder, harsher, and more disconnected by the day —
kindness is no small thing.

We see what happens when success is chased without compassion.
When brilliance isn’t balanced with empathy.
When ego is rewarded and admired, and gentleness mistaken for weakness.

This is how the world breaks —
not through lack of achievement,
but through the absence of humanity.

But kindness? Real, steady, human kindness —
that’s what holds us together.
It’s what heals. What uplifts. What reminds us of who we are beneath all the noise.

So yes, let your child be bold. Let them be driven, creative, athletic, popular, passionate.

But don’t let them forget what it means to be kind.
To care.
To stay human.

Because kindness isn’t a soft skill.
It’s a survival skill.
And it’s the one this world is most in need of right now.

It’s time kind became the new cool. ❤️

The words we speak to our children don’t just echo in the moment — they settle into their nervous system, their self-worth, their sense of what’s possible.

When we speak with criticism, they learn to question themselves.
When we speak with compassion, they learn to trust themselves.
When we speak with belief, they learn they’re capable.
And when we speak with love — they carry that love into every corner of their lives.

This is how language becomes legacy.

Not through grand gestures — but in the quiet, consistent ways we shape how they see themselves.

Because how we speak to our children becomes how they experience the world.

And the stories they live tomorrow begin with the words we choose today. ❤️

The goal was never to raise children who are easy to manage — It’s to raise children with the strength to manage themselves and the integrity to stand for others.

In a world where silence can enable harm, where conformity can cost lives, and where “fitting in” often means hiding who you are — We need to teach our children that true strength lives in their voice, their values, and their vision.

Let them ask the hard questions.
Let them challenge what feels wrong.
Let them lead, even when it’s uncomfortable.

Because the world doesn’t need another generation that just goes along.

It needs one that shows up — with courage, compassion, and conviction.

One bold enough to imagine better, and brave enough to make it so. ❤️
