Healing comes from repair, not perfection ✨

The dance between rupture and repair is at the heart of every parent-child relationship ❤️‍🩹 Not only does it shape our childhood, it also echoes in how we handle conflict in other relationships as adults 🗣️

Whether you read this week’s blog as a parent or someone on the journey to healing their inner child, we hope you take away one crucial message: moments of rupture are unavoidable, but the repair is crucial 🫂

The way you speak to yourself matters 🫂

Our self-talk isn’t entirely made up of our own thoughts - it’s also largely influenced by what has been said to us. In attempts to “ignore” the inner critic, we may actually be absorbing these thoughts passively. Without challenging those overly-critical and harsh judgements we often make about ourselves, we can’t change them 💭

Approaching our inner critic with curiosity, compassion, and self-respect is how we can appreciate the power of self-talk 🗣️

When did we decide tuning ourselves out was a good idea? 🤔

That inner voice when you:

👉 Accidentally burn your toast
👉 Rush to prepare the kids’ lunch
👉 Realise that deadline is coming sooner than later
👉 Make a passing comment at a mirror’s glance

These bits of inner monologue are constant so you start and end your day with it! Tuning this out is tuning yourself out.

Where our inner voice can be our greatest critic, ignoring it doesn’t make it go away, it allows the voice to fester in a negative spiral 🌀

In our latest blog, we discuss why attunement is important, how we can give our inner voice attention, and why tuning it out is dangerous.

This is your loud reminder that you cannot shame, criticise, or degrade yourself into growth 🤎

Genuine growth comes from self-compassion; where change is fostered with kindness 🌱

What act of self-compassion do you implement daily? Let us know in the comments! ⬇️

You don’t show up to therapy a clean slate - and we don’t treat you like you do either 🪞

Maybe it started with conflict in your relationship. Or a period of grief that you wanted support with. But in therapy, what brings you in is usually just the beginning ⛰️

In this week’s blog, we explore how psychologists consider the *whole* you 🌱
Your childhood, environment, genetics, and everything inbetween contributes to the person you are today ✨

✨ Monthly Mindful Pick: May Edition ✨

This month, Ruchi’s podcast recommendation is a specific episode of - The Certainty of Uncertainty 💭

Joined by this episode is all about our tolerance of uncertainty, and how its seemingly getting narrower! I love this episode as a reminder to avoid over-reliance on external validity. There’s a difference between making an informed decision and pursuing a perfect decision and the discussions in this episode do a great job of distinguishing the two.

Find yourself:
👉 Waiting for the “perfect” time?
👉 Overwhelmed with anxious thoughts during uncertainty?
👉 Constantly seeking reassurance before doing something?
This episode is for you 🌱

That quote fits your situation perfectly…but now what?

We love that our content lands deeply for so many of you - but here’s a gentle reminder: Instagram ≠ therapy ‼️

At TMP, we’re so grateful for all who follow along with our posts, read our blogs, and are part of our online community. Together, we’ve fostered a safe and supportive space and we couldn’t be more proud 🤎
However, Instagram (or any mental health content online) can’t replace the personalisation of real therapeutic support.

In this week’s blog, we unpack why posts aren’t a substitute for seeking professional help and why personalised care still matters (and always will) in a world of easily accessible advice 🗣️
