Happy Make a Move Monday !

๐Ÿฆด **What is Sciatica?** ๐Ÿฆด

Sciatica is a pain that radiates along the path of the sciatic nerve, which runs from your lower back through your hips and buttocks and down each leg. It usually affects only one side of your body and can range from a mild ache to a sharp, burning sensation or in some cases, the pain is severe enough to make a person unable to move.

โšก **Common Symptoms:**
- Pain in the lower back, buttock, and leg
- Numbness or tingling
- Muscle weakness
- Difficulty moving the leg or foot

๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€โš•๏ธ **How Can Physiotherapy Help?** ๐Ÿ‘จโ€โš•๏ธ

Physiotherapists can play a crucial role in managing and alleviating sciatica symptoms. Here's how:

1. Pain Relief Techniques: Use of heat/ice therapy, massage, dry needling.
2. Stretching Exercises: To improve flexibility and relieve pressure on the sciatic nerve.
3. Strengthening Exercises: To stabilise the spine and improve overall posture, reducing the risk of future sciatic pain.
4. Manual Therapy: Hands-on techniques to mobilise the spine and surrounding tissues.
5. Education: Advice on proper body mechanics, ergonomics, and activities to avoid to prevent recurrence.

๐ŸŒŸ Don't let sciatica hold you back! We can help you find relief and get back to enjoying your daily activities. ๐ŸŒŸ

Happy Make a Move Monday !!

What is Taping?

Taping is a technique used by physiotherapists to support and stabilise joints, muscles, and ligaments. It involves applying specialised tape to the body in specific ways to enhance movement and aid in recovery.

Taping offers numerous benefits in physiotherapy, including pain relief by lifting the skin to alleviate pressure on pain receptors. It provides essential support to muscles and joints without restricting movement, enhancing stability and function. Additionally, taping improves circulation and lymphatic drainage, which aids in faster recovery. It also plays a crucial role in injury prevention by stabilising weak or vulnerable areas during physical activity. Taping can also significantly reduce pain and act as a reminder for maintaining correct posture and alignment.

BUT remember ... while it can offer wonderful support, it is not a long-term fix and should be used alongside proper rehab and training for the best results.
