Scar Therapy photo comparison (shared with permission in the hope that Sarah’s postpartum journey, so far, inspires other new mums to put themselves first)
Sarah came for her first scar therapy session at 17 weeks postpartum after her first baby was born by an unplanned c-section birth. Like many new mums after c-section births, the information and selfcare guidelines Sarah received had been limited. Sarah wanted to get her scar checked by a qualified specialist, but also wanted to learn more about her healing journey and what she could do to help herself.
Finding time for herself was hard with a newborn, but Sarah was determined to better understand the stages of healing involved and how she could be proactive in helping herself at home.
Sarah has had three monthly sessions to date with Carrie, our practitioner, and she has completed regular home selfcare in between. The second photo was taken at 5 months postpartum.
At each session, Sarah’s scar is reassessed based on five important factors:
❤️ Colouration
❤️ Sensation
❤️ Texture
❤️ Functional movement
❤️ Client confidence
The photo comparison shows visible improvements in the colouration and contouring of Sarah’s scar and the surrounding stretch marks.
Clinical testing and observations indicate clear improvements in all areas. However, there is more progress to be made and it will be exciting to see future updates of Sarah’s progress on her scar therapy journey.
Knowing what is ‘normal’ during the postpartum healing journey after a c-section birth is one of the most common concerns for new mums. It’s never too late to get started on your own scar therapy journey and to achieve your goals….💕
