If you are a mum who birthed via c-section and your scar has never received any particular care or scar therapy after your 6-week check with your doctor, then you are not alone! In fact, many women do not receive any sort of specialised scar therapy advice or treatment…until, that is, they realise that their bodies are sore and they are struggling to do normal everyday activities or exercise…
….if you are experiencing tightness, restriction of movement, pain, sensitivity or irritation when doing normal everyday activities or exercise, then it’s likely to be because of the changes to your fascia.
Fascia covers our whole body, goes through our deepest skin layer, attaches to muscle and bone, and is made up of collagen fibres that are constantly moving dynamically when our bodies are standing or active.
Fascia needs good hydration to remodel and repair, so drinking plenty of water is a must for all postpartum mums. 💦💧
When you birthed via c-section, your surgeon cut through your fascia, which means that when your scar formed, it connected with the fascia and as collagen is laid down haphazardly during the healing process, adhesions can form and cause restriction to your hips, back, abdomen and pubic bone.
What can be done about this?
