GLP1 Medication & Nutrition

If you are taking a weight loss medication such as Ozempic, Wegovy or Mounjaro or thinking about it, there are some really important nutrition considerations to support your journey.

Weight loss can be a hard journey and isn’t as simple as calories in versus calories out.

There any many factors at play including genetics, stress, hormones, sleep, movement and food intake and it’s a journey that is easier for some than it is for others and if this is a journey you are currently on or one that you are thinking about embarking upon, here are some really practical nutrition tips to support you.

Curried Chicken Recipe

Minimal food prep occurred in my house this weekend and poached chicken is a really quick and easy way to get a good protein source prepped for the week ahead.

Poaching is also a really healthy way to cook chicken.

Recipe

450g chicken breast (3 x 150g chicken breast = 36g protein for my lunches for the next few days & use as much chicken as you want to cook)
1-2 bay leaves
1/4 lemon
1/2-1 tbsp curry powder
Salt

Using a medium to large saucepan (fill with enough water to be able to fully submerge the chicken once added to the pan, but before adding the chicken…).
Bring water to the boil.
Add bay leaves, squeeze lemon and add lemon carcass, 12-1 tbsp curry powder and sprinkle salt into the water.
Add chicken breast (usually helpful to chop one breast in 3/4 chunks to cook through quicker).
Cover with a lid and bring to the boil again.
Once boiling remove from the heat and leave to cook through for approx 30-45 mins.
Once cooked through remove from the water and store in the fridge. I usually shred the chicken before refrigerating.
