BONDI JUNCTION

Sydney Eye Surgeons is currently seeking friendly, professional and reliable medical receptionists to join our ever-growing team. Our clinics are located in Bondi Junction, Hurstville and Miranda. This role will predominantly be based in Bondi Junction however will require work across all three sites. Our medical practice operates Monday to Friday only.

Some of the duties include:
Greeting patients on arrival
Answering the phone and dealing with all patient enquiries efficiently
Scheduling patient appointments
Managing and maintaining patient records
Billing and processing Medicare claims
General administrative duties

Essential Criteria:
Highly organised and able to multitask and work under pressure
Reliable and punctual with the ability to work autonomously and within a team
Must maintain a strict level of confidentiality
Well presented at all times
Fluent in English, both written and spoken with a professional phone manner
Excellent computer skills and experience in Microsoft Word and outlook
Australian Citizen or Permanent Residency

Desirable Criteria
Prior experience as a medical receptionist will be highly regarded
Experience with medical software program Health track and or Shexie
Salary is commensurate with experience.

The Amsler Grid is a screening test for macular degeneration.

How to use it?

1. Wear your glasses or contact lenses as usual.
2. View the screen so that the grid is at eye level.
3. Cover one eye and focus on the centre dot with the uncovered eye.

If the grid lines are wavy, broken or distorted or there are blurred or missing patches, this MAY be a symptom of macular degeneration.

Early signs of macular degeneration are usually detected during a routine retinal exam. If AMD is suspected, a graph called the Amsler grid is used to evaluate central vision and confirm vision loss. Depending on the findings Further diagnostic tests will be performed to determine the type of AMD and develop an effective treatment plan.

What is Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD)? 🤨

Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is an eye condition that affects a tiny part of the retina called the macula, which is located at the back of your eye. AMD causes problems with your central vision, but does not lead to total loss of sight and is not painful.

AMD affects the vision you use when you are looking directly at something, for example when you are reading, looking at photos or watching television. AMD may make this central vision distorted or blurry and, over a period of time, it may cause a blank patch in the centre of your vision.

You should have your eyes tested if:

- you notice any difficulty with reading small print with your reading glasses
- straight lines start to look wavy or distorted
- your vision isn’t as clear as it used to be

Bree is one of our experienced orthoptists who has 10+ years of experience under her belt. Completing her studies in Applied Vision Sciences in 2008 from Sydney University, she has worked as a senior orthoptist with experience on surgical assistance in theatre and laser procedures.

Outside of work, Bree is a proud wife and mother of three. She serves at Eastcoast church as both a Sunday school teacher and bible study leader. She loves keeping an active lifestyle and participates both indoor netball and personal training exercise activities. And, when you think that’s enough ...
