Huge congrats to Lisa Cappuccio and Jacque Katsieris for hosting the inaugural festival in Melbourne. It was incredible and inspirational to see your vision come to fruition. 🌻

Had the opportunity to visit the Samsung Eye Clinic in Seoul - 삼성안과(구 SEE삼성안과) to meet Dr Kim ByoungJin.

The visit to the eye clinic was kindly organized by president of Menicon Korea, Mr BeomJin(BJ) Kim. This was very much appreciated as I am so interested in how myopia care is provided in South Korea.

With 5 ophthalmologists, 10 optometrists, a massive diagnostic room of equipment, large contact lens assessment & delivery room and dedicated surgical rooms, it was certainly an impressive set up.

Dr Kim ByoungJin was generous with his time and provided me with a tour of his facilities. I was particularly interested in the focus on myopia management. The ophthalmologists in South Korea have decades of experience in prescribing Orthokeratology lenses and have a strong understanding on the efficacy and safety of these lenses.

서울 삼성안과(구 SEE삼성안과)에 방문하여 김병진 원장님의 개인 안과를 참관할 기회가 있었습니다. 이번 방문은 메니콘 코리아의 김범진(BJ) 대표님의 배려로 마련되었습니다. 한국의 근시 치료에 관심이 많았던 저에게는 정말 뜻깊은 기회였습니다. 5명의 안과의사와 10명의 검안사, 최첨단 진단 장비가 갖춰진 대규모 진단실, 넓은 콘택트렌즈 평가 및 처방실, 그리고 전용 수술실까지, 정말 인상적인 시설이었습니다. 김병진 원장님께서는 흔쾌히 시간을 내어 병원 곳곳을 안내해 주셨습니다. 특히 근시 관리에 대한 전문적인 지식이 돋보였습니다. 한국의 안과의사들은 수십 년간 오소케라톨로지 렌즈 처방 경험을 쌓아왔으며, 이 렌즈의 효과와 안전성에 대한 깊은 이해를 가지고 있다는 것을 알 수 있었습니다. topeye.co.kr

Attended the JJ Abiliti CPD event tonight with Optometrists from our Hillsdale, Bankstown, Chullora and Roselands practices, to learn from Noel Brennan and Emma Gillies.

Abiliti 1-Day lenses, made from senofilcon A, are designed for myopia management in children aged 7–12, with studies indicating a 0.25 mm reduction in average axial elongation over two years.

Featuring RingBoost technology, these daily disposables utilize non-coaxial optics to increase treatment strength while maintaining visual quality, with >95% of children achieving 6/6 or better vision.

The lenses are designed for the pediatric eye, offering a 13.8mm diameter to aid with handling and, in a 6-month trial, demonstrated a significant reduction in eye growth.

Expanding our portfolio of products for myopia management helps provide more customized care.

Hoya Korea kindly provided me the opportunity to presentat on Myopia Management from the perspective of an Australian optometrist. I truly appreciated the warm welcome from the team: LEE Sun Haeng, LIM Hyun Kyu, CHUNG Byung Heon, PARK Wook Jung, HAHM Chae Lim, KIM Je Hyung, CHOI Hyun Jin. Thank you so much for the hospitality 🫶. The translator did such a great job live! We were an effective team.

The participants of the webinar asked really thoughtful questions. I thank you all for your patience with my limited Korean and hope to meet you in the future.

Korean Ophthalmologist Association) Conference

Had the opportunity to visit an ophthalmology conference in Seoul and check out many interesting supplier exhibits.

My Korean is terrible, but it was interesting to hear presentations given in Korean. Motivated to improve my Korean!

Highlight was visiting the Menicon and Cooper Vision exhibitions and meet the Korean teams.

Special thanks to Mr Kim Beom Jin from Menicon, for helping me with directions to get there and looking after me during the day!

So grateful for wonderful opportunity to have participated in the Menicon Japan Symposium with optometrists, Frances and Saya, from Eyecare kids and Eyecare Plus Bankstown.

A product is never just a product. The people and the relationships we make in delivering the service associated with the product is what creates the magic.

Meeting some of Menicon team in Japan, visiting their R&D Centre (where all the innovation happens!), learning about the history behind Menicon, observing the absolute care and precision taken in creating Orthok lenses at the Alpha Ina Factory.. has made this a truly valuable experience.

Sending a big hello to the new connections made with our colleagues from Malaysia, Singapore, India and Korea! It’s fair to say we all enjoyed learning from the presentations 🥰

Attending OSO2025 with Eyecare Kids Optometrists, Janice and Frances, has certainly been a highlight of the year!

Keynote speakers Noel Brennan Daddi Fadel Gareth Lingham Michael Lipson and especially John Mountford, along with so many other superb educators, made this conference unmissable!

Eyecare Kids Optometrists, SooJin, Janice and Frances, recently attended the Orthokeratology Society of Oceania (OSO) conference in the Gold Coast.

They attended lectures on ortho-k, myopia management, contact lenses, scleral lenses, dry eyes and have returned with many clinical pearls to look after our patients. 🥰
