Do you get neck pain and headaches? Or feel like you always need to massage or stretch your traps?

Your traps may be weak rather than tight! Try these upper trap shrugs. Make sure to keep your elbows straight, then lift your shoulders to your ears and lower slowly.

💪Start with just shrugging with no weight
💪 You can add a theraband for some resistance
💪 If you don’t have a resistance band, you can use your handbag or backpack instead

Bulletproof your knees this winter

Here are some fantastic exercises that can be done with a kettlebell at home to help with leg strength.

Did you know quadriceps weakness is linked with osteoarthritis and other chronic knee conditions?

Exercises:
1. Knee extension with kettlebell or ankle weight. Ensure you go slow on the way down (5 seconds). This is a great exercise to isolate the quadriceps (thigh muscle). Strong quads help to offload the knee joint.
2. Sit to stand (squats) with weight. Great functional movement we use everyday. We want to be strong and proficient in this movement to help us with everyday life!
3. Single leg sit to stand. Little bit more challenging but a fantastic exercise to help with single leg stability and strength. Helps with maintaining balance too.
4. Single leg RDL. Great for hamstrings (back of the legs) and another great exercise to promote balance and stability on a single leg.

Very important you consult with a physio or health professional to ensure you obtain an exercise program that is suited to you. Come and see one of your physios at Inspired Physio if you suffer from ongoing knee pain and want to get on top of it this Winter! ❄️💪
