Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Service Northern Sydney LHD Official page for the Northern Sydney Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Service Need help right now?

The NSLHD Aboriginal Health Service (AHS) page isn’t the place to get one-on-one help. The moderators don’t have access to clinical files or capacity to offer crisis support. If you, or someone you know, needs urgent help the best options are:
- If life is in danger call triple zero (000)
- If you are in NSW and need to be connected with your local mental health service, you can free call the Mental Health Line on 1800 011 511. Calls are answered 24/7 by a clinician who can offer support and connect you with services.
- Lifeline offers 24/7 free support on 13 11 14. Terms of Use
The NSLHD AHS page aims to increase community awareness about local services, events and health promotion information that may benefit Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. It is a platform to encourage individuals to access beneficial services and engage with our partners and stakeholders. When participating in this page please be respectful of all points of view, and refrain from personal attacks on other users. NSLHD AHS will remove any posts, comments or content that:

Congratulations to RNSH’s Dr Mackenzie Little, who won bronze in javelin at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo over the weekend with a throw of 63.58m.

The 28-year-old junior doctor had just come off night shifts in the emergency department before flying out to compete.

A regular on the Diamond League — the premier global circuit for track and field — Little balances full-time hospital work with elite international athletics.

She also recently secured her first surgical job for 2026, aiming to specialise in ENT.

About: Aboriginal Health Service

The Aboriginal Health Service (AHS) of Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD) would like to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which our health services have been built, the Gaimariagal, Guringai and Dharug peoples and we honour and pay our respects to their ancestors.

We also acknowledge and pay our respects to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and to Elders past, present and emerging. We acknowledge that past, current and future Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are the continuing custodians of this country upon which we live, work and meet and that it is from their blood, courage, pride and dignity that we are able to continue to live, work and meet on this ancient and sacred country.

Our AHS works within the NSLHD to provide holistic, culturally safe and appropriate care to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The key responsibility of the AHS is to coordinate and provide advice on matters relating to improving health and social emotional wellbeing of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. The AHS provides consultation and advice to health services that that engage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people within NSLHD and external. This enables the provision of culturally safe and respectful services to the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. The AHS provides social, emotional and cultural support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients admitted to hospitals across NSLHD.

NSLHD AHS offers services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community that are primary health care focused and start from a Social Determinants of Health (SDoH) paradigm. This evidences the holistic model of health care that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have practiced for over 40,000 years.
