Great teamwork and creativity in MC 19!

In their last session, participants in MC group 19 came up with the idea to create a Guess Who-style structure together. Turning an idea like this into something that actually works takes a lot of thinking, cooperation, and persistence- it’s not an easy task.

The group worked through how the game would function, shared ideas, and adjusted plans as they went. Our GM gently guided the process, helping participants stay on track, think things through, and problem‑solve when challenges popped up- all while encouraging everyone to contribute in their own way.

It was great to see the group supporting each other, sticking with a tricky concept, and celebrating their progress together. A fantastic example of shared creativity and growing confidence in action.

Today we celebrate the creativity, passion, and diversity of our autistic community.

At Minds at Play, acceptance means creating social spaces where neurodivergent participants feel understood, supported, and free to express themselves in ways that feel right for them. Through our inclusive online social groups-from collaborative adventures to creative building, roleplay, and shared interests- participants connect, grow, and build confidence at their own pace.

We are proud to champion environments where every participant’s communication style, strengths, and individuality are respected and valued.

Today and every day, we honour autistic voices, celebrate their contributions, and continue our commitment to fostering belonging, engagement, and genuine community connection.

Adventurer of the Week -Olivia (MC4)

This week, we’re celebrating Olivia from our MC4 Minecraft social group for an incredible moment of empathy and leadership.

During the session, one of our participants became overwhelmed and wasn’t feeling their best. Before any facilitator could step in, Olivia gently took the lead. She offered calm, reassuring words that changed the whole mood in the space:
“You are strong, you will get through this-and we love you.”

It was a simple sentence, but it carried so much heart.

Her empathy helped the other participant feel supported, and it brought the whole group closer together.
✨ Olivia reminded us how powerful kindness can be.
✨ She showed courage, emotional awareness, and genuine care for her peers.
✨ And she helped create a safe environment where everyone felt valued.

Thank you, Olivia, for your compassion and your incredible contribution to MC4 this week.

You truly are an Adventurer worth celebrating.

Social Growth in Stardew Valley!

This week in our 9-12 social group, our Adventurers came together in Stardew Valley to celebrate all the upcoming participant birthdays- and in the process, they built something even more special: social confidence, connection, and shared joy.

With guidance from one of our supportive Guild Masters, participants practised turn‑taking, collaboration, positive communication, and celebrating one another’s achievements. These moments of kindness and shared creativity are exactly where real social growth happens- gently, naturally, and in a space where everyone feels included.

Watching our Adventurers cheer each other on, plan together, and make space for everyone’s ideas reminds us why these groups matter so much. Every birthday celebrated becomes an opportunity for new friendships, confidence, and belonging.

Here’s to many more milestones- in-game and in life- shared with friends who feel just right.

Mini Painting Spotlight: Exploring Object Source Lighting!

Our Mini Painting participants have been creating absolute magic lately- and our newest hag miniature is a perfect example!

This week, some of our painters experimented with a brand‑new technique called Object Source Lighting (OSL).

OSL is all about imagining where a light source inside the scene would glow- in this case, the hag’s cauldron- and using lighter shades around the miniature to create the illusion of that eerie, magical light spilling across the model. The effect is subtle, impressive, and adds so much storytelling to the piece.

We’ve gathered all the hags together for a group photo, and it’s incredible to see how much creativity and style each participant brings. Every miniature is unique, filled with personality, colour choices, and artistic expression.

But what makes this even more special is everything happening around the painting:

- Growing artistic confidence
- Sharing ideas and encouraging one another
- Building friendships in a supportive environment
- Relaxing, connecting, and celebrating each other’s wins

Our Mini Painting social group isn’t just about creating art-it’s about community, confidence, and the joy of learning something new together.

Amazing work, everyone. We’re so proud of what you’ve created and how you support one another each week.

Adventurer of the week

This week, we want to recognise an incredibly thoughtful moment from one of our participants, Will (DND81)

When Will found out that one of his fellow adventurers had recently lost their beloved dog, he didn’t hesitate for even a second. He reached out to our team and the GM straight away with one heartfelt request:
“Can we immortalise their dog in the campaign?”

Will wanted to make sure his teammate felt supported, seen, and uplifted during a tough time-and he used the magic of storytelling and collaboration to do it.

Acts of empathy like this are what make our social groups so special. Will, thank you for your kindness, your compassion, and the way you help create a safe and caring environment for everyone at the table.

You’re our Adventurer of the Week!

Keep shining that supportive spirit, Will!
