𝗟𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗿, 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗱𝗲𝗮𝘀, 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿.

In our miniature painting group, every brushstroke tells a story — not just of colour and technique, but of connection, creativity, and community.

This week’s challenge was the wolf from our Horde series, and the results were incredible. Each painter brought their own style, using bold colours, subtle layering, and imaginative flair. But what made it truly special was the sharing of ideas, the encouragement, and the laughter along the way.

Mini painting here isn’t just about mastering a new skill — it’s about growing socially, expressing yourself, and being part of a supportive space where everyone belongs.

Adventurers of the week- Aria and Lucas

This week’s shout-out goes to Lucas and Aria, our dynamic druid duo in DND68!

In a moment of pure creativity, both adventurers transformed into miniature gelatinous cubes and merged into a two-headed creature — gaining some wild in-game bonuses. But here’s the twist: every action now requires full cooperation!

Whether it’s casting spells, moving across the map, or making decisions, Lucas and Aria have to work together — and they’ve embraced the challenge with laughter, patience, and teamwork.

This imaginative moment is more than just fun roleplay. It’s a powerful example of:

-Collaborative problem-solving
-Creative thinking
-Learning to share control and communicate clearly

In a safe and supportive space like Minds at Play, these kinds of playful experiments help neurodivergent participants build social confidence and discover new ways to connect.

Working Together, Growing Together — Teamwork in Minecraft

At Minds at Play, our Minecraft social groups are more than just shared builds and digital adventures—they’re a space where neurodivergent participants learn how to collaborate, communicate, and succeed as a team.

Every session brings new opportunities to work together: designing a shared village, gathering resources for a group project, or solving a challenge that needs more than one mind. These moments help participants practice listening, compromising, and celebrating each other’s strengths.

And because our groups are guided by experienced facilitators, teamwork is never forced—it’s gently encouraged, supported, and celebrated. Participants learn that their ideas matter, that helping others feels good, and that working together can be just as rewarding as building alone.

We’ve seen participants go from working solo to leading group builds, discovering the joy of shared success and the power of connection.

Wear It Purple Day is all about fostering safe, supportive, and empowering environments for LGBTQIA+ youth. It’s a reminder that everyone deserves to feel seen, respected, and celebrated for who they are.

Many of our amazing participants and Game Masters are part of the LGBTQIA+ community, and we want them to know:

Adventurer of the Week: MC46 Linus

Just a few weeks into term, Linus has gone from feeling overwhelmed by building decisions to confidently choosing block palettes and crafting interiors with style. He even asked if we wanted to learn from his designs!

He once said he was a “bad builder.” But what we see is someone who simply needed a safe, supportive space to explore, express, and grow. And that’s exactly what happened.

Thanks to the encouragement and gentle guidance of his Games Master, Linus found the confidence to take creative risks, make decisions, and share his ideas. That kind of support doesn’t just help with their time during group—it nurtures social confidence. Linus is now initiating collaboration, expressing pride in his work, and engaging with others in ways that show real self-assurance.

In the right environment, confidence doesn’t just grow—it flourishes. Keep going, Linus. You’re not just building worlds—you’re helping shape a community.

Confidence in Character

At Minds at Play, we’ve seen something truly magical happen during our D&D social groups: participants discovering their voice through their characters.

Whether they’re a quiet wizard, a bold bard, or a curious rogue, stepping into a role gives neurodivergent players a safe way to express themselves, take initiative, and make decisions.

In the game, they might lead a party through a tricky puzzle or stand up to a dragon. In real life, they’re building confidence, communication skills, and a sense of belonging.

Watching a participant go from quietly listening to confidently roleplaying is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.

Because when you’re supported, included, and celebrated—your character isn’t the only one who grows.

This week in our Mini Painting Social Program, our crew took on a fearsome orc mini—and learned the magic of dry brushing to make every spike, fold, and ragged edge pop with texture.
