✨ Another unforgettable dinner in Ubud 🌿 This time at , a hidden gem serving elevated plant-based cuisine — and yes, they also run a cooking school if you're inspired to take the flavours home with you!

From Shirataki noodles to Spinach & Eggplant Lasagna, Black Pepper Beet Steak and a dazzling selection of “Living Vegan Sweets” (think cakes, pies, tarts… all raw and refined sugar-free!), every bite tasty and creative.

🌱 Moksa is more than a restaurant — it’s a permaculture farm, learning space and conscious community built around the belief that food is medicine. Just a tip: be cautious arriving at night — the road is very narrow with water on both sides, so you’ll need a good taxi driver to navigate!

Ubud is a plant-based food paradise below the surface 🌿

I was blown away by the sheer number of whole food, plant-based eateries in Ubud, Bali—each more creative than the next! From raw and organic menus to in-house cooking schools, it’s a dream for food lovers. Despite planning most of my meals around them (and that of my understanding friends!), I still didn’t get to visit them all. For that alone, I’d return. And for the massage ❤️

Most are run by expats drawn to Ubud’s spiritual vibe—mostly influenced by Hinduism—and the place hums with digital nomads – from every corner of the globe – lounging (and sometimes napping!) between emails. I kid you not – some places even offer blankets so you can settle in for a proper snooze.

📍Pictured meals: from Zest, Ubud—perched above the treetops, with stunning decor and seriously good food. Very hip. Very Ubud. My friend loved the “Mushroom Schnitzel ‘Parmigiano’ with rucola & ratatouille stack” so much – he even snuck back for another lunch 🤣 I only got to visit once and chose the “Peanut Miso Ramen” as my first two choices were already sold out!

Sometimes the cutest gifts are sweet 🍯 Just received a jar of Australian from one of my lovely clients—produced by her own family! She’d seen me demo a simple Greek dessert with yoghurt, walnuts and honey, and that sparked the idea. Thoughtful little gifts like this mean so much. Love it and many thanks! 💛

Did you know honey was the main sweetener used in traditional diets like that from the Mediterranean? Honey is not "just sugar", it brings various phytonutrients with it that have anti-inflammatory, healing properties. 🏥

🐒 Did you know? It’s not just bananas they love. The long-tailed macaques of Ubud Monkey Forest have a soft spot for corn on the cob and sweet potato! 🌽🍠 These are part of their daily diet, carefully provided by sanctuary staff to keep them healthy and happy.

If you haven’t visited the Sacred Monkey Forest in Ubud, it’s an unforgettable experience—lush and full of cheeky monkey antics. A must-do when in Bali! 🌴✨

♻️ Brilliant little idea from Bali Buda in Ubud! ☕🌿

My friend grabbed a takeaway coffee and it came in a glass jar—not plastic or paper. You simply return the jar later for a small refund.

Such a thoughtful and practical step towards reducing waste and rethinking single-use culture. Small changes, big impact. 💚🌏

🌏 A taste of tradition… with a side of cultural connection! 👩‍🍳🥢

Whenever I travel, I love diving deeper into the local culture by taking a traditional cooking class. You always pick up a tip or two—like this time, learning that the local tempeh is only kept for 2–3 days at home due to no refrigeration, as the fermentation intensifies beyond that creating an unpleasant flavour.

It made me appreciate how lucky we are in Australia to have access to high-quality tempeh in our supermarkets that keeps for weeks!

But it’s not just about food—it’s the people you meet. At this class, I swapped stories with a paediatrician from Switzerland, a Belgian pharmacist running clinical trials, and UCLA graduates from the US. Cooking really does bring people together. 💬🍽️

Afternoon Tea… with a Balinese Twist 🍵🌺
This wasn’t your usual high tea — no scones or cucumber sandwiches here! Instead, I found myself sipping tea in a Balinese palace, surrounded by ancient stone and wood carvings and the quiet hum of gamelan music in the distance.

Served with delicate traditional sweets and tropical fruits, it was a celebration of local flavours and culture — a beautiful contrast to the refined elegance of an English high tea, yet just as memorable. I mean, how often do you also get to enjoy shoots and green vegies in this innovative way?

Sometimes, when you want to spoil yourself… it’s time for a high tea with a difference ✨💛

Lunch fit for a fairytale 👑🌸.
Today’s very pretty plate at Herb Library Ubud was called ‘Cinderella’ — and it lived up to the name. A gorgeous mix of potato, pumpkin, eggplant, chilli-toasted cashews, and edible flowers, all brought together with a delicate honey mustard dressing.

Plant-based food that nourishes and delights the eyes 💫🌿

Starting the day right in Bali 🌞🥭
Breakfast gets going with a vibrant bowl of tropical fruit and yoghurt — almost too pretty to eat! Our little B&B is tucked away in a quiet pocket of Ubud, nestled between local Balinese homes with a breathtaking view of the jungle out the back.

No alarm clock needed here — the village rooster takes his job seriously, announcing the new day at 5:30 am sharp 🐓🌿 🤣 I’m happy!

There’s something deeply nourishing about slowing down, disconnecting from the noise of mainstream media, and tuning into nature’s rhythms. Even a week here — surrounded by greenery and good friends — feels like a reset for the soul 💛✨

Dragon fruit + pineapple juice… a match made in tropical heaven. 💖🍍

Sipping on this vibrant combo while wandering through the lush rice paddies of Ubud with friends was pure joy. Add to that the warmth and grace of the Balinese people — and it becomes one of those unforgettable travel moments. 🌾✨

But this gorgeous fruit isn’t just pretty… it’s packed with goodness:
💗 Rich in antioxidants like betalains and vitamin C
🌱 A good source of prebiotic fibre to support your gut and also suitable for people with IBS
💧 High water content for hydration in the heat
🔋 Contains iron and magnesium to help energise your day

Tropical, refreshing and nourishing — dragon fruit is a delicious way to eat (and drink!) for health.
