Doppler assessment in clinic 👣

This isn’t just a routine check. It’s an important assessment of blood flow to your feet.

If you have diabetes, peripheral arterial disease, or symptoms like pain, cramping, cold feet or slow healing, this is something you shouldn’t skip.

Circulation plays a huge role in healing and overall foot health and issues can go unnoticed without proper testing.

Simple, non-invasive, but very important.

A lot of people with diabetes put off getting their feet checked because:
“they feel fine”
“nothing hurts”
“there’s no problem”

But that’s actually the problem.
Diabetes can damage the nerves in your feet (peripheral neuropathy), which means you might not feel pain, cuts, pressure, or wounds at all. By the time something shows up, it can already be serious.

No pain doesn’t mean no risk.
If you (or someone you love) has Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes, regular foot checks aren’t optional. They’re essential!
Early checks can prevent:
• ulcers
• infections
• ongoing nerve damage
• amputation

Please don’t wait until it’s “bad enough” to get help.
Your feet carry you every day! Look after them.
📍 At Oran Park Podiatry, we provide thorough diabetic foot assessments to catch problems early and keep you on your feet for longer.
Book in. Get checked! (Photos posted with patient's consent)

☀️ When you’re on holidays overseas, you’ll probably come across these fish spa tanks. They might look fun and relaxing, but please don’t dip your feet in! 🐟🚫

They’re not hygienic and can easily spread infections, especially if you’ve got any small cuts or if you have diabetes. The same water is shared by many people, and those tiny fish can carry bacteria.

If you want smooth, healthy feet, get a proper medical pedicure with your podiatrist when you’re back home instead. It’s clean, safe, and your feet will thank you! 💅🦶✨

Stubbed your toe a few weeks ago and it’s still sore? 👣
If it’s been 3–4 weeks (or longer!) and the swelling hasn’t gone down. It’s time to get it checked.

Even if your first X-ray was clear, a stress fracture might not show up straight away. Or it might not even be the bone, tendons or bursae around the joint can get inflamed too.

Ignoring it and pushing through can lead to long-term problems like joint laxity, early arthritis, or chronic pain, especially if it’s affecting a growing child’s toe!

👉 Don’t wait it out. Get it properly assessed by your podiatrist and rule out anything serious before it turns into a bigger issue.

👣 Little feet love being free!

A lot of parents ask me if their toddlers’ shoes are appropriate. And honestly, nothing beats being barefoot when they’re learning to walk and run. It helps them build strength, balance, and coordination from the ground up 🌱✨

But if shoes are needed (for outdoors or protection), go for a softer sole with a wide toe box so their little toes can spread and move naturally 👟💨 Harder sole shoes with tight toe boxes can actually squish their toes and even encourage nails to grow in, which can lead to painful ingrown toenails 🚫🦶

If you’re unsure about what’s best for your child’s feet, come chat with our friendly team at Oran Park Podiatry 💙 We’re always here to help!

👣 Pediatric Flat Feet: What Parents Need to Know & How We Can Help!

Flat feet in children can be a tricky topic – some experts say it’s perfectly normal, while others argue that early intervention is key. At Oran Park Podiatry, we’re here to guide you through it all! If you’ve noticed your little one struggling with pain, tripping, or unusual walking patterns, it might be time for a check-up. Let’s dive into what to watch out for and how we can help!

🚩 Signs Your Child Might Need Help:

👟 Foot Pain: Kids are naturally active, so if your child is sitting out because their feet hurt after playing or running, it’s worth investigating.
🏃‍♀️ Frequent Tripping: Does your child seem to trip over their own feet more often than other kids? It could be linked to their arches.
🚶‍♂️ Knock Knees or Limping: Notice their knees turning inward or a limp while they walk or run?
🛌 Back or Knee Pain: Complaints of discomfort, even at rest, might mean their flat feet are affecting other parts of their body.

If any of these sound familiar, you’re not alone – many parents come to us with similar concerns. We know how important it is for kids to move freely and grow into their best selves! 🌟

How We Can Help:

At Oran Park Podiatry, our highly trained podiatrists are all about personalized care. Here’s what we can do:
🩺 Comprehensive Assessments: We’ll evaluate your child’s feet, check their gait (how they walk), and identify any areas of concern.
👟 Tailored Solutions: Whether it’s custom orthotics, supportive footwear recommendations, or simple exercises, we’ll create a plan that fits your child’s needs.
🤝 Referrals if Needed: If your child requires additional support, like physio or further medical care, we’ll connect you with trusted professionals.

Our goal is to minimise pain and prevent complications as your child grows.

What You Can Do at Home:

🦶 Encourage barefoot time on soft, uneven surfaces like grass or sand to strengthen their feet.
🤸‍♀️ Engage them in activities like hopping, skipping, and climbing to improve coordination.
👟 Invest in properly fitted shoes that provide good arch support.
