This seems relevant for the pace of how we explore in Feldenkrais lessons, letting the insights arise in time -
Slow looking has become profoundly counter-cultural. And anything that serves as an antidote to chronic distraction, that pulls our gaze from pulsing, popping screens to quieter skies surely should be applauded.

Thoroughly enjoyed attending the ATMS Symposium on Lipoedema last weekend. Becomes even more pertinent having particular clients in mind. And running into Coby Du Preez who taught me lymphatic drainage massage 15 years ago was swell 🥰 (pardon the pun).
‘You need live 100!’ My final home visit client of the day says. ‘This rich’ she says touching my hands. ‘Many, many’ Translation of the non native English speaker (who does have at least 5 languages she understands/ speaks): live long so you can help many people with your skills 🫶 awww…

Humbled that a new client is travelling from Blacktown to come and see me for Feldenkrais Functional Integration in Annandale 🙃 Koo

Whilst adventuring in southern Utah, I received an email that went out to ‘s database 3 weeks ago, announcing the clinic was going into liquidation effective immediately.
Luckily my own transition is a smooth one: consolidating to in Annandale is closer to home, has great street parking and more space 🤗 I’m now there Mondays as well as Wednesday/ Friday/ Sunday afternoons and have changed my Feldenkrais classes to be both in-person or online (4pm Friday replaces 1pm Thursday).
If the extra travel distance is a barrier for north shore folks I completely understand and it’s been a pleasure looking after you over this last decade or so. But if you’re happy to come to the inner west, I look forward to seeing you in Annandale!
When an 87yo new client with a history of multiple falls tells you they have shoulder / arm / jaw pain, you barely bat an eyelid but turns out there was more to this than meets the eye....the story came out when I was whilst I gently working the area, of the time that she was mugged and had her bag wrenched and this particular arm twisted and yanked by the attacker......oh the history within our bodies - it's such a privilege being entrusted to care for someone hands-on.

Today's class is a standing sequence from the Jeremy Krauss Approach, waking up standing activation through assorted weight patterns of pelvis, width and orientation of feet and head position. Feeling more dynamic for it! :-)

I'm a little bit excited about tonight's online class - folding the sternum and the interrelated change in the spinal curves. It's a flexibility / fluidity game changer!

Home grown produce/ home baked bickies is but one of the perks I enjoy about working with elder clients on home care package funding 🥰 Mainly it’s clinically stimulating with a lifetime of injuries in their body, requiring a particularly attuned sensitivity of touch. Variety of environment is fun, I don’t have to pay room rent, whilst also charging more for the home visit. It’s taught me how to slow down and that time spent connecting is just as valuable as the hands on application. I also get a glimpse into the latter half of life and insights into how things might pan out. Knowing I’m improving someone’s quality of life is certainly rewarding.

Anything done without hurry, with care and attention, has the potential to be a meditation. (Even repairing rot in wooden window frames 😆) I do enjoy tinkering, mending, tending to hearth; in my time off from tending to bodies and humans!

How well do your limbs integrate into the motion of your trunk? Is a question I'm also looking at improving with all my clients (both remedial massage and Functional Integration). It provides the most stability /support for effective use of your limbs. Limb - trunk integration is the theme we'll be investigating in tonight's class - https://www.facebook.com/events/913680753592384/913680850259041

How you feel in your body is how you experience the world.
What I do is help you learn how to look after yourself in order to live more vibrantly.
I have always been happiest when I am present, ‘in my body’ and exploring. This lead me to study remedial massage in 2009 as a skill that was very transportable, allowed me to work with people in a hands on capacity and be part of a healthy living community. Being able to shift aches and pains that people have been putting up with (attributing to old age or some other story) but don’t actually have to be that way, is very satisfying.
My first experience with Feldenkrais pre-dates my massage career, when I was the youngest member of a youth theatre performance ensemble. Feldenkrais was part of our body/movement warm ups and it left a very strong and engaging impression on me – moving in ways I had never imagined before, it left me feeling tall and free. I knew it was something I wanted to explore further.
A series of fortuitous connections brought me into the 4 year Feldenkrais Practitioner training program that commenced in South Eastern Australia in 2014. I discovered that Feldenkrais principles of always exploring and experimenting with new combinations were akin to my own innate characteristics; I need never fear getting stuck in monotony as I would be always making discoveries. Here was a vocation that would allow me to spend time on the floor (my happy place) barefoot and apply my love of organising/rearranging to people’s movement habits!
I love that Feldenkrais is all about utilising what you’ve got to the best possible advantage. It creates the learning conditions for people to realise something for themselves so that they own that understanding as their own. Most of all I love showing people how they can keep feeling more and more and even more vibrant than they could have ever imagined was possible!
