Rottnest Island off Perth was a surprise packages of gorgeous coves for swimming and snorkelling, salt lakes, lighthouses, and sparkling blue-green water views. Even its own pink-purple coral.

A completely hidden cave, discovered only when modern explorers followed a legendary wind hole 12m downward and it opened up into a vast cavern and kilometres of caves. Pity the poor Tasmanian Tiger who fell down the same hole and was trapped hundreds of years earlier … but his skeleton did prove Tassie Tigers once roamed the mainland.
