Write a caption...A week ago today this woman gave birth to her daughter and first baby not long after this picture was taken. She had woken with cramps earlier that day and was in early labour through the day. An hour or so after the sun set her labour established and we arrived at the hospital with a plan for waterbirth. Within a couple of hours of getting into the pool, a gentle and calm waterbirth followed. Now she is back home with midwives supporting her alongside my postpartum visits. She is coping really well as is her husband and breastfeeding is without issue. I was so pleased to see the couple’s beaming smiles yesterday. In a few weeks their overseas family will be visiting too.❤️

A very healing birth! This strong woman was very keen not to be induced after her first birth being a very unsatisfactory experience and full of intervention.
This time she was considered high risk for a number of reasons. Induction was discussed with the obstetricians as her blood pressure was going up after 37 weeks. She started labetalol to assist keeping it lower. Luckily her waters broke at 38 weeks and with the use of acupuncture and requests to have a couple of days to go into labour naturally, she finally agreed to augment her labour. The midwife examined and found there were some forewaters to be released and she was 4 cm and mostly the cervix was effaced. Shortly after this exam the OBs highly recommended immediate start of syntocinon to augment labour. She again requested they give her just one hour to see if she could labour naturally. AND SHE DID! A beautiful baby girl arrived in around an hour, without syntocinon.

The moment his little sister got home! Such an excited big brother. He was very helpful too when little sis had her first bath a day or so later. With his love of all boats, I’m sure one day he’ll be teaching her to sail too. 😁

This is a wonderful birth from a few days ago at RNSH. Here was a period of time in the pool at around 7 cm. Monitoring was on as baby had passed meconium. Labour commenced immediately after did some acupuncture to start labour. The hospital were pushing to augment labour with syntocinon but this empowered mama ensured the monitoring was all normal and discharged herself for natural augmentation. Shortly after this picture, we tried an inversion on the bed to realign baby’s asynclytic head and not long thereafter a beautiful baby entered the world.

A fond farewell postnatal pic at six weeks with first time parents. It was a difficult journey in the postnatal period due to a PPH from retained products. This led to breastfeeding needing additional top ups as often occurs where post partum hemorrhage is concerned. Here though thankfully, bub is looking very healthy and mum is fully breastfeeding once more. Shortly after this shot, a very healthy nappy was completely filled.

Such a wonderful smile from this very happy woman I was lucky to assist recently. She and her partner were fortunate to have a highly skilled and lovely midwife and a fantastic obstetrician too. She achieved the VBAC she wanted! This time at home, no post surgery to be dealt with! Just the usual adapting to become a family of 4!😊🙏🏻

Last week I was so grateful to attend a gorgeous couple’s first birth, an induction for cholestasis. The couple decided to choose not to know the s*x of their child. And although it was a long journey, the woman had a lovely calm vaginal birth of a baby boy. Her best friend who was also due at the same time came into the RHW in Randwick a few hours later and birthed her surprise s*x baby too. A little girl via a very quick natural birth. The two mamas managed to convince staff they could share a room which was ‘blissful’ my client reported. This is a sweet photo of the two new little friends meeting only hours after their births.

I’m just so happy for this beautiful woman who achieved what she called her dream birth. It was her second baby and she had wanted to birth in water this time. She had required some syntocinon infusion due to a stall at 7 cm and although the hospital protocol defines no waterbirth with syntocinon, the doctors were supportive of her birth wishes and as long as the CTG and OBs were normal, she would be able to have her desire.
And she DID IT! This expression was in that moment of her realization. I am so privileged to be able to support women in these incredibly healing moments!❤️🙏🏻😊

Moments after a beautiful homebirth, with oxytocin flooding the room, this couple celebrate their very healing second baby’s arrival. The midwives from Royal Hospital for Women in Randwick, Sydney were so professional and caring and a gorgeous big sister to the mother was fabulously nurturing throughout the amazing journey.❤️ Such a pleasure to be present with this family.🙏🏻

I just wanted to share this stunning antenatal picture of one of my recent clients who has now had a gorgeous baby boy. The photo was taken in a sacred birthing indigenous area in Sydney’s bushland. The expert photographs were by alisiamasonphotography who takes all birth related photos. Such a stunning picture of a beautiful woman at a very special time.❤️

Such a powerhouse of a woman during her second OP birth. This time she was determined to do everything as naturally as possible. She was determined and tough using sterile water for injection for natural analgesia and the birth pool with the beautiful assistance of her husband and a supportive and very experienced midwife at the Northern Beaches Hospital. Her OB just arrived in time to be present for her natural birth of a beautiful baby girl. Both mum and baby are doing very well now. It has been a pleasure assisting this lovely family through both their special births.🙏🏻❤️

From a recent beautiful birth. This young mother eventually birthed on the birth centre bed but spent much of her time with music and aromatherapy in the birth pool and under the shower as shown here. You can see her partner’s arm holding the shower head as she leans over the bath. She birthed with such strength and determination! Her very supporting partner and her amazing MGP midwife as well as a beautiful student midwife were all there too and all singing her praises!
