Release what’s holding you back—stress, tension, or a life that feels too small—so you can step into ease, vitality, and new possibilities. Alena helps women in transition break free from what’s holding them back—stress, tension, or a life that feels too small—so they can step into greater ease, vitality, and possibility with somatic practices. She is living proof that it is possible to experience a healthy, soulful, enriching life after adversity with the right support. Despite a rocky start to adult life she miraculously trained and worked in a diverse range of industries - and left a mark in each one. From public relations to filmmaking, residential construction to permaculture design she holds qualifications in many disciplines, including education, somatic therapies, and a Black Belt in Hapkido. After wandering for years - navigating traumas big and small - Alena realised her knack for sensing what people need to reconnect with so they can finally heal what's been holding them back. Since 2009 Alena has been writing researching, and founding supportive online communities in the tens of thousands. In 2020 she began guiding and supporting women with her multidisciplinary programs, and inspiring many with her podcast, Unboxable. Alena is driven to foster interdependence in a disconnected world, so women can unearth their hidden talents, and unleash them in the most impactful way.
Last week I hosted my third lunch in our local area on Sydney‘s Northern Beaches to connect with other coaches heelless therapists and creatives.
This is just simply a space to come and have authentic and real conversations and give yourself some time to recalibrate and stabilise and maybe have a lovely lunch with some other others in similar places in life as you.
The simply is no comparison for me face-to-face open conversation a few laughs and a few stories shared.
Comment below or message me if you’d like to come to the next one you are more than welcome.

From the ground up… that’s how you live well, for a long time.
Fitness and strength and conditioning ebb and flow. Particularly as a woman who fulfils many roles, your ability to train consistently for your own strength can sometimes be hampered.
If I said to you, you just make the time some of you would want to punch me in the face - and rightly so.
It reminds me of those people that call themselves productivity experts and wake at five in the morning so they can journal for two hours and then go for a 10k run and then work all morning whilst fasting and taking creatine.
But when you lift the veil or look under the hood, there’s either a partner who’s picking up the slack with the kids in the family or there’s someone being paid to do all of that.
Now there’s nothing wrong with that, but at least own it and say it like it is don’t make out like everybody has the same lifestyle.
What I’ve noticed is that if you want to improve yourself, it doesn’t go in a straight line.
You could be at the peak of your fitness and then three months later things have changed and your training belly once a week.
At least that’s been my experience over the past month or two following an injury.
So you get back on the horse. Little by little you push a new boundary gain a new strength find a new limit to bump against.
Nothing goes in straight lines.
Not healing.
Not Learning.
And certainly, not living your most authentic and vital life.
That comes with practice, iteration, f**ck ups and shed load of connection.

It was never really the plan to be a wife, a mother of three, a high-school Technology Teacher, and an entrepreneurial Somatic Therapist at the age of 54. And yet, here we are.
As I look to the year ahead, my goal - put simply - is is to offer more people more of what I have to offer. That’s the highest aspiration I feel, to be able to give our authentic gifts in the most sustainable way and for the optimal benefit of all who we encounter.
Career progression at this stage of my life involves becoming a more skilled and effecitve educator whilst also enabling more travel and more expansion in my therapeutic practice - both in person and online.
More people need support than ever right now. High school kids need more nervous-system safety, and frankly so do the people that I serve in private practice. The world is hectic and demands so much from so many. I love providing a safe-haven of peace, an invitation to heal from past hurts and create new ways to move through a dysfunctional world that don't involve taking care of everyone else, but rarely ourselves.
So career for me is defines as much by how I show up in my various roles, as it is by how many times I can get down to my martial arts gym and train each week. It is defined as much by how it pays my mortgage as it is by how many spaces I can schedule to rest and relax along the way. Our modern western cultures have lost a few pieces and I’m determined imbue the way I work with the values I teach. We need to move more slowly, and take in information more thoroughly. We need to work in way that supports every level of society, not just ourselves. At least, that’s the way I see it.
So for me, career ‘progress’ is more like career recalibration. I am specialising in how to evolve my current work into work that nourishes as much or more than it demands.

NOTICING - simply connecting and tuning in to what is right in front of you - cannot be underestimated as a tool for revitalisation.
For your life force to flow you need to be consciously and unequivocally connected with it.
What is the enemy if this?
- numbing out
- disconnection
- some medications
- unprocessed past hurts
… I could go on, but you get the idea.
So the first step? CONNECT.
Notice the small beautiful things that surround you. Slow down and let them sink in and reconnect you even if it’s just for a few seconds.
You can’t do this wrong.

"The words you use, and the intention with which you use them, have power....Words shape people. Mostly because words focus intent and emotion. They also anchor them. They anchor them in your identity by anchoring them in the story you tell yourself and others of who you are."
These are quotes from 's book, The Flowering War.
He is this week's guest in Episode 99 of the Unboxable Podcast.
The creation of this Episode has been a hearty process. Spaces have emerged. Books have magically appeared to guide me. My next mission is coming into focus, naturally and without force.
They say when the student is ready, the teacher appears. It certainly feels like that to me.
I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed recording it.
Find it via the links on my bio, website, or search Unboxable wherever you listen to yours.

✨ NEW EPISODE ✨ If you have ever felt like a 'black sheep', overextended, misunderstood, struggled to find your place or like you've not quite reached your full potential... this one's for you, my friend.
MEET DR OSCAR PEREZ, THE SOUL RECOVERY SPECIALIST
When I accidentally discovered Dr Oscar Perez's book, The Flowering War: Toltec Teachings on Healing Ancestral Trauma, Overcoming Your Internal Enemies, and Fulfilling Your Life Purpose... I knew the moment I picked it up that it was something important.
So much so, I had to pick it up and put it down a few times so I could take it in and give it the dues it seemed to deserve.
It was an absolute honour and privilge to them be able to spend some time with Oscar recording Ep. 99 of the Unboxable Poddy.

No trickery needed.
Presence.
Action.
Result.
That’s what’s possible.
Healing occurs when we walk the honest and surrendered path.
We keep our energy for ourselves and use it with intention.
It’s powerful.
And best of all, being fully alive is very fun!

Those days don’t feel so far away, but this morning I dropped her off for classes before school. She is a ten now. Still just as snuggly and still needing me - maybe more than she’d like at times.
Previous moments all.
My main goal in life these days is to be present, healthy and fully myself.
