Disabled mums are incredible.

Doing so much… on top of so much.

This Mother’s Day, we’re celebrating the mums who show up every day with strength, love and resilience and the support systems that help make it possible 💜

Because having the right support doesn’t take away independence… it enables it.

With support from family and independent support workers on Mable, more mums can be present, capable, and exactly the kind of mum they want to be - just like Lana.

Support isn’t a weakness. It’s a superpower.✨

Planning independent living for your child comes with a mix of shared hopes and very real worries.

We recently sat down with Fran to hear her family’s story, alongside some key insights we’ve learned through our work as an impact partner with

Meet Max: he’s 21, autistic and has high support needs - and like any young person, he deserves a home that helps him grow, connect and live life on his own terms🧡

Fran shares what this transition can really look like - and how, with the right support model, independence can mean community, choice, routine and joy.

Joined by Mable’s Home & Living consultant Libby Ellis, they share practical insights for families starting to explore their own independent living journey🏠

Their biggest tip is simple: start with the person, what matters to them, what a great home looks like, and what support will help them truly thrive.

Meet Nicholas - Mable client and former blind cricket athlete🏏

In his 20s, Nicholas was invited to play blind cricket.

He said yes - and that decision shaped two decades on the field.

From listening to Test matches on the radio to representing Victoria and New South Wales, cricket became more than a game. It became community, competition and connection.

In 2025, Nicholas’ story came full circle - becoming the face of our partnership with Cricket NSW, helping drive greater representation and accessibility in live sport.

This is Nicholas’ story - and a reminder of what’s possible when people are supported to live life their way🧡
