🦷 World Oral Health Day is this week!

Mouth
Brushing, flossing, and regular dental check-ups are essential to keep your mouth healthy. Don’t forget — your mouth is the gateway to your overall health, and good hygiene can help prevent issues like tooth decay, gum disease, and bad breath.

Mind
Did you know that oral health can affect your mental well-being? Poor oral hygiene can lead to discomfort, pain, and even self-esteem issues. Taking care of your smile can boost your confidence and overall mood, helping you feel better both physically and mentally.

Body
Oral health isn’t just about your teeth; it affects your entire body! Gum disease can lead to heart disease, diabetes, and other health problems. Keep your mouth clean, and you’ll be supporting your body’s health from head to toe.

The Albion Centre pauses and remembers those from the trans community we have lost over the past years.

Trans Day of Remembrance is a day in which the whole community honours and remembers those who have lost their lives to transphobic violence, and discrimination. It’s a chance to remember those who blazed trails before us, to whom we owe a debt of gratitude.

On October 30th, The Albion Centre bid farewell to Dr Virginia Furner and John Goulder.

Virginia has been at Albion for almost 37 years.

Virginia has said ' I would like to thank all the courageous patients I have seen over these years, for the absolute privilege of being able to share in their journey.

Thank you everyone, for your amazing care of these patients too.'

Virginia will be missed by patients and staff.

After over 27 years of dedicated service to NSW Health, specifically The Albion Centre, John Goulder will be logging off for the final time next Wednesday 30th October.

Nothing was ever too hard for John, he would take on a challenge, seek a solution and we would work together to implement.

John developed and maintained a system called MDS which was designed as a precursor to electronic medical records.

John's and Virginia's expertise will be missed by everyone.

We wish them well with what the future holds.

Australia is currently experiencing a supply shortage of medications containing tenofovir and emtricitabine, which are commonly used for HIV Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP). People may experience longer waiting times for supply, need to travel to an alternative pharmacy, or use online platforms to access PrEP.

Further information on how healthcare professionals can support people who use PrEP during the shortage can read here: https://buff.ly/3Tk5cQV
