Have you ever tried "offloading" your day to an AI? 🤖💬

It’s becoming so common to turn to a chatbot for a quick vent or some advice when we’re feeling overwhelmed. And honestly? As a therapist, I think it can be a quick way to organise your thoughts or get a new perspective.

But there is a "hunger" that a chatbot just can't satisfy.

In my latest blog post, I explore why the "difficult parts" of human relationships - the friction, the pauses, and the moments where we truly see each other - are actually where the healing happens.

I know some therapists aren’t a fan of Esther Perel but that aside, I enjoyed hearing her reflections with Sana Qadar on what are very pertinent and hot topics about AI: AI chatbot relationships and AI as a therapist.

It doesn't need to be embarrassing to talk about s*x in therapy!

We talk about our careers, our families and our deepest longings and fears - so s*x and intimacy belong in the room, too. No matter who you are, these are fundamental parts of the human experience that deserve a space free from shame.

I invite you to bring the "whole of you" to our sessions. As a registered clinical member of PACFA, I provide an ethical, safe environment to explore the topics that often feel the most uncomfortable. If we find you need a specialist, I’ll be the first to let you know but the invitation to start the conversation is open to everyone.

🌿 (Re)Connect with Nature • Others • Body • Self

While this video talks about breaking down the shame many women feel about their bodies (and the actually not-so-weird things women do in ma********on!), the goal of open, honest dialogue is something we can all move toward:

So many women have weird little habits when they ma******te — and most of them come from feeling disconnected from their own bodies.Things like using only to...

I agree that empathy is a skill, not a gender trait. Men often just need more practice expressing and verbalising it. This is where therapy helps!

We shouldn't assume it's automatic for women either. Plenty of women struggle with it as well.

Scientific research is up-ending age-old gender stereotypes about empathy – and revealing new ways of thinking about masculinity.

Yearning for a more fulfilling sense of belonging? 🌿

Do you ever feel like you live in a box and "busy" is the only gear you have? Between the notifications and the back-to-back meetings, it’s so easy to lose touch with ourselves and the world around us.

Deepen your connection to the wisdom nature holds: Wind, Trees and Bush aren't just scenery - they are teachers of resilience and growth.

Recognising the need for this elemental rhythm, I have opened my practice to include Eco-Psychotherapy. If you feel a particular resonance with the natural world, I invite you to explore a session where nature acts as co-therapist.

Let's step outside the four walls and find a more grounded way of being together.

Rather than criticising yourself about your lack of self-control, focus on being more intentional about your screen time.

Just watched a great episode of SBS Insight on male masculinity/toxic masculinity. It’s such a sensitive and often difficult subject to talk about openly, but they provided a really good range of different voices and perspectives that leaves it open to you to reflect more deeply on the subject. Highly recommend you checking this one out! 📺

'How are Australian men navigating modern manhood? '

In a time where controversial figures such as Jordan Peterson and Andrew Tate provide guidance about masculinity to some, we hear from Australian men who are figuring out what it means to be a man in an evolving contemporary context.

You may need to hear this (if you haven't already): your job is not your family. While you can develop meaningful relationships with your colleagues, calling work your family can actually breed burnout and be detrimental to your mental and emotional health. Exciting news - I'm moving!! 📦 🚚

Come mid-October, I'm going to be leaving Umina Beach and the lovely Central Coast and returning back to Sydney. I'll have a new location in Ultimo, not far from Central Station/Darling Harbour. This sadly means I am not taking on any new Central Coast based face-to-face clients but I will still be available for online sessions.

Interesting article from the BACP:

“Campaigns often urge men to talk to their mates. That’s fine, but it’s rarely enough. Most men don’t want to be a burden, and they know their mates - however well-meaning - probably won’t know how to respond. That doesn’t make men fragile. It makes them realistic.”
