Caitlin showing off her new tool! 🩺 She attended a cervical auscultation course with Julie Cichero so she can now listen to what’s happening with her client’s swallowing. Just another great tool for the clinical toolkit 🗃️

Good news! More speech pathology sessions for young people are now available through Medicare. Medicare has expanded the M10 plans to include children with cleft lip/palate, speech sound and stuttering disorders. GPs/ Paediatricians can refer (to cover part of sessions) for up to 8 assessments and 20 therapy sessions from 1 March 2026 for eligible patients.

As stated by the National President of Speech Pathology Australia, our board has worked closely with all stakeholders over several years to support this change. This will improve equity, reduce financial pressure on families and support stronger lifelong outcomes for children.

We can't wait to get back to the clinic this coming week and start helping our clients achieve their goals and improve their wellbeing The videos shared are some of Caitlin's first attempts at these exercises. Of course, over 3 days, she has fine-tuned them! (And has improved her oro-motor function along the way) No better way to help a client than to do it yourself!!

It’s Invisible Disabilities Week (19–25 October)! 🌻

Around 80–85% of people with a disability have one that isn’t visible. These include neurological, cognitive, sensory, mental health, and chronic conditions that aren’t always immediately apparent.

Not all disabilities are visible — but a little understanding and kindness can go a long way in making everyone feel seen and supported.
