Most of my best ideas come when I’m walking and not chained to my desk trying to force inspiration. I think clearer and come back feeling settled, energised and less overwhelmed.

And I know I’m not the only one.

So I’ve decided to combine two things I love and open up Walking Clarity Sessions.

Coaching conversations we have while we both walk, wherever we are, connected via WhatsApp.

Think support, clarity and movement — all in one.

If you’ve been craving a way to talk things through without another Zoom call… this might be for you.

It’s a chance to experience coaching at a third of my regular rates.

There are only ten available. Message me if you’re curious 🌿

For the last 10 weeks I’ve been leading a discussion group for Rick Hanson on his Rewire Your Anxious Brain course.

Yesterdays session was especially touching, exploring how anxiety shows in up in our relationships, often from insecure attachment patterns.

And yet the discussion highlighted that for some of the members of our group, due to illnesses and difficult personal circumstances, they don’t have many close relationships at all, have limited options to meet people - and sadly live pretty isolated lives.

In processing the emotion and tenderness of the discussions afterwards, what struck me most is how important it is for us to have connection and support with other humans.

To be in community, in groups, in circles where we have a space and opportunity to stop and share our experiences - the good and the bad - and be witnessed in our messy and vulnerable humanity.

To receive the kindness and compassion of others and to be buoyed by love.

There’s a sweet preciousness of life that opens up to us when we gather together to share - and a relief that we don’t need to hold the pain or the fear of what’s happening in the world all on our own 🙏

Have a gentle weekend 🫶

When I started practicing gratitude about 13 years ago, I’d never heard of neuroplasticity and had no idea that it was possible to rewire and reshape our brains.

All I knew was that over the course of a few months when I started writing gratitude lists each day that I’d gone from automatically thinking the worst about situations that were happening to me, and complaining about them, to starting to notice more beauty in the world around me.

It was weird at first. Finding myself overcome and crying about how beautiful the scent of Jasmine was on my morning walk. Feeling lighter in my mood and personality. Connecting to more joy.
Weird, but also pretty magical.

This simple habit, which I seriously did not expect to work, was changing me in so many ways and I was hooked.

Gradually I started to talk to people about it - friends that commented on how much happier I seemed, strangers in the coffee line at my local cafe, anyone that would listen actually 😆

And the more I did that, the longer and more detailed my gratitude lists became, and the more I noticed to be grateful for as I moved throughout my day.

It didn’t make the bad stuff go away and it didn’t make me immune to sadness and suffering, but it did stop me hyper fixating on it and I truly felt more grounded, hopeful and content the longer I practiced it.

This is the amazing power and ability of our brains. To shape themselves around what we focus on, and for that, I’m grateful 🙏

The message that’s landing the most in my workshops right now, is ‘Control the Controllables’.

Stop wasting time, headspace and energy on events and dramas completely out with your ability to change them.

We’re living in crazy, unpredictable, chaotic times and it does us no service whatsoever to ourselves or those around us when we’re spinning out of control about things we can’t possibly change.

Focus on you my friends. Your mindset, rest, screen time, sleep, healthy practices. Let the rest of the drama and seductive lure of outrage go - we can’t control it so stop feeding it 🫶

10 years ago I was working with a mentor who used to ask the most squirmy question during our sessions….

‘What are you pretending not to know?’

Every single time it would stop me in my tracks, circuit break the stories I was telling myself about why I hadn’t moved forward on my projects and vision and forced a really honest and true reflection about what I had been avoiding.

Exquisitely uncomfortable yet absolutely transformative.

It’s still the best coaching question I’ve come across.

If you happen to be feeling a bit stuck, lost or wondering why things aren’t changing for you - it’s worth taking some time to sit with this question and see what appears.

And if you’re interested in having me hold that space for you to connect with your deeper truth, reach out and we’ll set up a time.

🙏 And huge thanks to Julian Ramon Noel for posing that curly question that’s stayed with me all this time

We all know and feel that the world is a crazy place right now, so anything we can do to expand our capacity is super important for our wellbeing.

Yesterday was my regular Sunday session at our Contact Improvisation Jam, and as we sat in circle at the end it was striking how open, relaxed, grounded and settled I felt in my body. A real deep sensation of calm, ease and peace - it was delicious!

And something that can only be accessed through connection with myself and with others.

As the world becomes increasingly unpredictable, it’s crucial that we all find the practices that work best for us to access these states so we can bring a sense of calm, grounded ease as we move through our days and interact with each other.

📣 Whilst Contact Improvisation dance isn’t for everyone, I’m curious what helps support your nervous system and expands your inner capacities? 🫶

💡A thoroughly thought provoking and engaging morning yesterday at the Responsible Leadership and AI Summit.

Every speaker contributed valuable perspectives on the role of ethics, truth and trust in the AI age, the importance of workforce design, why AI integration needs to be a collaborative approach across an organisation and the crucial need to put people at the heart of the AI transformation.

These are the conversations we all need to be having right now, especially the leaders among us, as we move further into this unchartered time. And it’s so powerful when we gather together to do so.

Thanks to Clare Payne, Meghan O'Sullivan, Jonathan Rubinsztein, Steve Reid, and Luke Whenman for your wise words and courageous leadership and gratitude to Muneesh Wadhwa and Humanity in Business for curating and facilitating such a valuable session.

On International Women’s Day I’m feeling grateful for the words of wisdom my mum passed onto me throughout childhood that still echo through my ears today and helped shape the woman I’ve become.

Whilst she wasn’t an academic or scholar, Mum loved to quote Hamlet, and her most beloved phrase whenever I was struggling to find my centre or feeling a bit wobbly was “To thine own self be true”.

Years later I can feel that advice deep in my bones and realise now how much Mums words helped give me a courage and confidence to forge my own way through life.

From migrating to the other side of the world, to making the hard decision to leave a marriage, to setting up my own business, she instilled a strong sense of trusting myself and not being afraid to do things differently.

Thanks mum for helping me to live a life that’s led by the heart, and it’s an orientation i hope to pass on to my daughter and all those I work with 🙏

We can’t change the world, but we can change OUR world!

Today is World Gratitude Day and if you’ve been following me for any length of time you’ll know that gratitude is a foundational practice for me.

It was really the first mindfulness practice I ever adopted and I credit it with:

🪷 Opening my heart
🪷 Shifting me out of victim thinking
🪷 Waking me up to the beauty of the world
🪷 And elevating my mood, energy and interactions with others.

Incredible that such a simple process can have such transformative effects. If it was a pill it would be a blockbuster!

So today I invite you to begin your own practice.

✍️ Grab a sheet of paper and take 10 minutes to review the last 24 hours. What went well, what did you notice that’s good in your life and how did that make you feel?

The key is to not just cognitively acknowledge what you’re grateful for, but to drop down into your heart and feel it.

Put as much detail into your writings as you can and then watch how the world around you starts to change.

We may not be able to do much about the wars, conflicts and traumas happening in the world right now, but we can do so much about our inner world and let that be a positive ripple that flows and impacts all that we interact with every day.

Powerful stuff! 🙏
