UNSW Transport and Road Safety - TARS

UNSW Transport and Road Safety - TARS Transport and Road Safety (TARS) Research is a research group at UNSW dedicated entirely to road and transport safety research.

The philosophy of the road and transport safety research focus at the TARS is the safe system principle, commonly used in occupational health and safety and adopted by the Australian Transport Council in 2004. This requires a multi-disciplinary approach to road safety research and policy development, where researchers focus on Safer Roads, Safer Vehicles, and Safer People and their integration into a Safe System. TARS research is structured around the essential disciplines needed for an effective transport and road safety research centre: safety policy and systems, psychology, human factors, engineering and crashworthiness, information technology systems, biomechanics, biostatistics, epidemiology, and social sciences. Administratively, the TARS research team is located within the School of Aviation in the Science Faculty. This capitalises on the strong research synergies in human factors and transport safety research between the TARS research team and existing researchers in Aviation.

LONG DISTANCE TRUCK DRIVERS: We need your help to learn about drivers’ experiences of queuing and waiting for loading and unloading at customers.

We are safety researchers at the University of New South Wales and we want to find out which customers manage queuing and waiting well, which don't, and what makes their systems work, or not, for drivers.

If you have recent good or bad experiences of queuing or waiting at customers in the eastern states (not including the transport company you work for) and might be interested in telling us about it in a telephone interview, please:
• drop us a private FB message or email (trucks@unsw.edu.au)
• or contact us via the study webpage

Do you use a quad bike for work? Have you had a crash whilst using your quad bike?
UNSW is seeking to learn about how quad bikes are used from both users who have had and crashes associated with their use and those who haven’t had a crash.

The Quad Bike Workplace Safety Survey (QBWSS) aims to obtain a better understanding of quad bike use and related crashes and injuries that occur in the Australian workplace.
