CASS Disability Services Community Connect Day
The CASS Care Activity Hall was filled with excitement on July 13, 2024, as CASS Disability Services event “Community Connect Day”. Over 80 people with disability, their families, carers, and community members attended the event for a day of connection, support, and celebration.
This event was dedicated to celebrating the strength, resilience, and spirit of the multicultural disability community. This event is kindly supported by the City of Canterbury Bankstown and Burwood Council grants.
CASS Board and senior members joined the group to celebrate the multiculturalism of disability community, including Honorary Executive Director Mr Henry Pan OAM, Vice-chairperson Ms Tica Lee, Member of the Council of Elders Mr Shan Zou, General Manager of Child Care, Vocation & Training Services Ms Dorothy Hung, and Senior Executive Officer of Multicultural Home Ageing Services Ms Pauline Kim.
The celebration began with an energetic and joyful opening dance performance by participants from the CASS Day Program and Group Home Participants. A special performance by Gayageum player Hun Suk Cho captivated the audience, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Korea. She performed two songs, “Sae Taryeong” (Bird Song) and “Arirang” (My beloved one), with the audience singing along to Arirang, which touched everyone's hearts. The event also featured the Global Gypsie Ladies, a senior dance troupe, whose colourful, energetic, and fantastic performances captured the audience's attention. Joshua Kim, a talented guitarist, added a unique flair to the festivities.
The celebration reached its climax with the exciting announcement of 10 lucky draw winners. Furthermore, the attendees enjoyed a delightful buffet lunch featuring a wide array of multicultural dishes, which provided a perfect ending to an unforgettable day.
