When you don’t get enough sleep it’s borrowed energy for tomorrow and has a never ending cycle. Im working on improving my sleep lately because I really do believe sleep is noā˜ļø

Some things Im doing to help with this is a consistent wake and sleep cycle, wind down routine before bed and ERT (emotion release technique) to help with falling into deep sleep and calming my inner stubborn teenager ā€œI want to stay up late and get some ME timeā€ šŸ˜‚

If you don’t get enough sleep then everything else snowballs, especially at my age 🤪 Who agrees?

•Switching off my internal critic and speaking lovingly and encouragingly to myself
•Fueling my body with nourishing food, water and supplements
•Acknowledging small efforts - what I have done instead of what I haven’t done
•Allowing to receive a long comforting hug from hubby
•Moving my body in the outdoors

He’s a bit big for the pram but I make an effort to get our morning sunlight and a good paced powerwalk for myself on the way to daycare (otherwise we’ll never get there šŸ˜‚).

Despite feeling the fatigue from my crappy sleep lately and not feeling like going initially, I never regret it.

The benefits of outdoor exercise in the sun particularly in the morning are endless (even if it’s just a walk):

•Vitamin D exposure
•Improved mood, mindset, stress and energy
•Better sleep and helps regulate our circadian rhythm
•Improved immunity

The list goes on…

There’s a reason why the sun feels so healing. Unfortunately we’ve been scared away from it these days which is causing more harm but is essential for our body to repair and for our cells to regenerate. You can still practice safe sun exposure. Aim for 20-30mins a day ā˜€ļø

TIP: If you’re in Sydney time zone and daylight savings has thrown you off this week, start your day (and your kids) with morning sunlight to help get you all back into your sleep schedules.

If I’m being honest, for some time now, I’ve been what they call ā€œsurviving not thrivingā€so I’m committed to allowing more space to focus on my physical and mental/emotional health as I’ve been inconsistent with it all.

I’ve struggled to get back on track particularly after being sick back to back for months, my insomnia is back with a vengeance, weight gain, not eating consistently healthy, low energy due to crappy sleep, not exercising properly etc.

The fundamentals (the 8 foundations of health) have slipped from me when they should be my anchoring point when s #*t hits the fan. This is another sign of my body surviving, not thriving and calls for a disregulated nervous system because my body is going back to survival basics. All of this could also be due to hormones and perimenopause šŸ˜‚ (and no I’m not too young for this as I’ve been told) but remaining consistent with the fundamentals is key, even more so if this is the case.

It’s time to treat myself like my own client 🤪 That actually doesn’t work for me because things are always harder to see when you’re ā€œin itā€. I have my team of health professionals helping me out so I will post any updates with them.

Sooo…I’ll be posting more about what I’ve been experiencing lately and how I go from surviving to thriving for the remainder of the year šŸ™Œ

I particularly dislike these declarations on social media announcing ā€œI’m getting my s #*t togetherā€ etc but my purpose is to be honest, show exactly what I’m doing step by step to heal and hopefully help someone along the way.

Anyone here in the same boat šŸ™‹ā€ā™€ļø let me know so we can support eachother šŸ¤

Tired AF today from being up with insomnia but here goes Day 1 and I WILL improve my health because I am worthy šŸ‘Š Hope you come along for the ride šŸš—šŸ’Ø

Not really the right weather for soups in Sydney but I’ve been craving them this week whilst being run down. These are two of my favourite types, despite me not doing them justice in these photos. They are absolutely delicious and so nourishing šŸ˜‹

•gluten free •preservative free •sugar free •can be made grain free •can be made dairy free

šŸ“Photo 1: Creamy chicken and veggie broth soup. Whole chicken boiled in a pot for 2hrs with carrots, zucchini, onion, garlic, sea salt and celery. I transferred all the veggies into a blender (apart from the celery and carrot), added spinach and butter with a little of the chicken broth and blended on high. So creamy tasting without the cream or any nasties šŸ˜‹ I’ve paid $18 for 500ml for the same tasting soup and I can easily make batches of it at home for a fraction of the price šŸ™Œ

šŸ“Photo 2: Chicken broth noodle soup. This I made with the leftover chicken broth. I simply placed rice noodles and broccoli into boiling water to sit for 10mins. I then reheated the broth in a saucepan and added the leftover chicken, carrot broccoli and noodles. Ready in a matter of minutes šŸ™Œ

I still have leftover chicken for lunch and broth to store in the freezer.

There are so many benefits to drinking broth. It is so nourishing, rich in gelatin and collagen = ie making your skin and hair glow, helps build our immunity, helps with digestion, helps regulate the nervous system, helps build, maintain and repair our osteo-skeletal system and so much more.

It doesn’t get more woggy than this. Deconstructed Chicken Souvlaki and Greek salad on mums 30+ year old plate šŸ˜‚

One of my quick lunch go-to’s when I cbf and only takes a few minutes to assemble šŸ‘Œ A little bit of food prep at the beginning of the week makes all the difference and it means I’ve always got something I can put together.

I used to think these type of meals were a little boring and needed something more flavoursome, elaborate or interesting. I always craved lots of variety in my meals and gravitated towards the comfort type of foods despite them still being healthy. To be honest, it was me trying to fill a need. Always wanting more because anything simple in life was not exciting enough. If you’re always feeling the need for interesting, flavoursome, comforting and sometimes complex meals, can you maybe see this play out in other areas of your life also? šŸ¤” I know it definitely did for me. Or maybe I’m just a tired mum who cbf these days šŸ˜‚ I now find these type of meals so yummy. The juices from the chicken 🤤 and cheese is my favourite šŸ˜‹ Simple yet tastyšŸ‘Œ

•gluten free •preservative free •sugar free •paleo (grain free) •dairy free without the feta

šŸ“ Leftover chicken souvlaki, sliced cucumber with sea salt on top, tomatoes with olive oil and of course some feta on the side.
