It was great catching up with at the APA Masterclass symposium to hear about cognitive functional therapy and the latest qualitative studies about physiotherapists and CFT.

I was fortunate enough to be part of the Restore back pain trial as a treating physio and was trained in CFT by Pete and JP Caneiro. It was a life changing experience for me, both as a clinician and individual. I am grateful I had this opportunity to be part of a landmark trial in back pain, published in The Lancet in 2022.

Doing a birth choices course by Taryn Hallam this weekend made me reflect on my own births. It is such an individual and emotional experience and 17 years ago we didn't have as much knowledge and information. I went to antenatal classes then but we have come a long way in terms of empowering women and giving them good information to make informed birth choices.

Working alongside obstetricians and midwives, it can be really helpful to see a pelvic health physio during pregnancy for an antenatal review, as well as a postnatal check up :-)

Usually it's Tim supporting me at Huskisson for a triathlon but the roles were reversed today when he did the Jervis Bay 20km trail run! It was a beautiful day for it and a lovely relaxed setting

UTA22 this year from a couple of weeks ago. It was a misty and muddy day but lots of fun! Trail running is a new adventure for me in the last two years. It combines my love of running and nature together!

It was pouring with rain during the swim component of my sprint triathlon today. Somehow I managed to keep smiling and luckily the rain stopped for the next two legs!

I did briefly consider staying on my lounge this morning but my kids and Tim convinced me to get moving despite the weather!

We had a week away hiking the Seven Peaks Walk on Lord Howe Island. This is from Mount Eliza, on our final peak. Mount Gower is behind me and was definitely the hardest to hike by far. The snorkeling was also amazing and there was a lot of bird spotting. Such a good break!

Presented our research on healthcare professionals' beliefs and attitudes towards chronic pelvic pain at the St George and Sutherland Hospitals annual health research symposium today.

It was wonderful to hear the multidisciplinary research being done by an array of clever healthcare professionals and the discussion about the implementation of research into the clinical setting πŸ‘πŸ‘

Super proud that our research into healthcare professionals' beliefs around chronic pelvic pain (CPP) was published today! We conducted a survey of physiotherapists, gynaecologists and general practitioners in Australia to enquire about their experience, training, beliefs and practice behaviours when it came to working with clients with CPP.

You can read it for free here:
https://doi.org/10.1071/PY24046

Huge thanks to the team at Curtin University and Assoc. Prof. Karantanis at St George Hospital...and particularly to Jen Vardy who worked so hard to get it ready for publication!

We hope that the article helps with further discussions into the interdisciplinary and collaborative approach required to help women with CPP and potentially the development of more formal care pathways for this population.
