🌿 Welcome Ajla to the Advantage Psychology Team! 🌿

We’re delighted to introduce the newest member of our team, Ajla Becirovik, a Clinical Psychologist Registrar with a deep passion for supporting young people to build confidence, resilience, and clarity in their lives.

Ajla brings a warm, down-to-earth approach to therapy and creates a safe, collaborative space for her clients to explore challenges like anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, and substance-related issues. She works flexibly, drawing on evidence-based approaches including CBT, ACT, and Narrative Therapy—always tailoring support to suit each person’s goals and strengths.

Ajla also provides cognitive and developmental assessments, offering clear, practical feedback to help clients and families move forward with confidence.

You’ll find Ajla at our Rouse Hill clinic on Mondays and Thursdays. We’re so pleased to have her on board!

Ever wondered what the difference is between a psychologist, psychiatrist, and counsellor? You’re definitely not alone!

A psychologist is trained to understand how we think, feel, and behave, and they use evidence-based therapies to help people work through a wide range of issues — from anxiety and low mood, to trauma, stress and life changes. Psychologists don’t prescribe medication, but they do help people develop tools and strategies to create meaningful, long-lasting change.

A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who specialises in mental health and can prescribe medications, usually supporting people with more complex or severe mental health conditions.

Counsellors, on the other hand, are a great support for more day-to-day challenges — things like stress, relationship difficulties, or grief.

While each professional has their own approach, they all share a common goal: to support your mental wellbeing. And if you’re unsure where to start, we’re always here to help guide you.
