This world moves fast, and it moves fast at surface level. There so much noise about how we SHOULD be moving our bodies
We’re rewarded for punishing and shrinking our bodies without really understanding them. Encouraged to panic about the latest advice on strength and bone density, overriding our own intuition in the process. We choose the hardest workouts with the quickest results, and we’ve learned to conflate “self-care” with time spent at the prettiest gyms or following the advice of the loudest commentators.
If you’re reentering the exercise space or haven’t moved for a while, the OVERWHELM can make it feel like there’s no room to just get started with SOMETHING. By no means am I suggesting we stick our heads in the sand—knowledge is power—but what use is all this information if it feels paralysing?
What if getting started could look like:
✨ Finding a supportive environment with skilled movement teachers, part of a greater network of health and exercise professionals
✨ Top-to-toe body conditioning classes that build longevity in a holistic way, incorporating: balance, control, coordination, breathing, mobility AND strength training.
✨ Building a dialogue with your body so you can actually learn what you like and what feels good in your body, and what is challenging for you
✨ Reaping the benefits of a commitment to deep learning about your body and how to take care of it
Respecting your body enough to say yes to something you actually ENJOY is an act of radical self-care. It’s a rebellion against the “burnout” culture of modern fitness, the patriarchy and unrelenting noise of the internet.
