Dr Louis Wessels is a cosmetic, plastic and reconstructive surgeon and is a senior lecturer at the faculty of medicine and health sciences. His practice covers the whole range of practice in cosmetic, plastic and reconstructive surgery with special emphasis on cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the breast (augmentation, reduction and breast lift) as well as facial cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. He is also an accomplished microsurgeon and regularly performs both reconstructive microsurgery for breast reconstruction and head & neck restoration following cancer surgery. In addition, he has expertise in body contouring surgery and non-surgical cosmetic therapies. Dr Wessels received his MBChB in South Africa, completing his internship & general surgery residency, training in one of the most challenging clinical environments, before completing his Fellowship and his Master of Medicine in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. He subsequently graduated from Macquarie University in the inaugural award of the Masters of Advanced Surgery (Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery), for which he was awarded a Scholarship from Johnson & Johnson. Dr Wessels successfully completed his second Fellowship in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery when was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2015. He is a member of the Surgical Infection Research Group at Macquarie University, and has published world-leading research on breast implant infection and outcomes.

This patient underwent breast implant removal with mastopexy (breast lift) to restore a natural, lifted shape after explant surgery. Following removal of the implants, we reshaped and tightened the breast tissue to achieve balance, symmetry, and a new contour, without the use of implants.

For this patient in her late twenties, I performed Vaser liposuction to the abdomen, inner thighs, and outer thighs to shape her natural contours.

Correction of tuberous breasts using a combination of ar**la mastopexy and 395cc moderate plus teardrop implants. This case involved addressing lower pole constriction and high inframammary folds to create improved breast shape, symmetry, and projection. The result is a natural, balanced contour while maintaining proportion to the patient’s frame.

Tuberous breasts occur when the breast tissue doesn’t fully develop during puberty, resulting in a constricted base, reduced lower pole fullness, and widened or herniated ar**la. This can cause asymmetry and a more tubular shape to the breast.

This patient underwent a breast reduction together with an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck). During the tummy tuck, we also repaired re**us diastasis, a common condition where the abdominal muscles separate down the midline, often after pregnancy or significant weight changes. VASER liposuction + Renuvion with Breast Reduction.

Ultrasound-assisted liposuction was performed to the abdominal region to selectively emulsify and remove adipose tissue. Renuvion plasma technology was then applied to promote dermal–subdermal contraction, enhancing abdominal contour and definition.
