Beware of defamatory and misleading reviews and that remedy is available. I have had a review removed by Google as it simply was false.

A specialist dentist has won a $170,000 payout for a one-star Google review after she claimed that she was defamed online by one of her patients.

Dear all

Restrictions still apply to all venues - still under 36. So at this stage we will be waiting for them to be relaxed and an announcement will then be forthcoming. Cheers, Stephen Harlamb

Vale Jens Andreasen (1935-2020). You inspired me in so many ways and it was a thrill and privilege to work with you on our recent updated guidelines. Quietly spoken, but a powerhouse. Our knowledge of trauma would not be anywhere near the gold standard that it is if not for you. RIP.

Jens Andreasen is recognised as the father of modern dental traumatology and his passion, research and knowledge will be missed across the world. Jens transformed the management of traumatic dental injuries by his meticulous approach to research and education. Jens obtained his dental degree in 1959 and completed his training as an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon in 1969. He was responsible for collecting standardised records of over 40,000 patients following dental trauma in Copenhagen. This vast data has formed the basis of many publications and textbooks and has contributed hugely to the knowledge base on traumatic dental injuries. Jens was instrumental in creating the Dental Trauma Guide. His first textbook was published in 1972 and he continued to add to the scientific and clinical knowledge with the recent publication of the 5th edition of the Textbook on Dental Trauma and continuing scientific publications.

Jens was a founding member of the International Association of Dental Traumatology in 1989 and served for 12 years as the President. He continued to work with the organisation over the years and served as a Director of IADT Board, 2019-2020. His main passion was to improve the management of dental trauma globally. He generously shared his wisdom and experience by encouraging young researchers and also by travelling extensively to speak on dental traumatology. Most recently, we had the privilege of his knowledge in Dublin as IADT finalised and launched the Dental Trauma Guidelines in 2020. Jens has been honoured over the years by multiple academic institutions and professional organisations. The highest honour within IADT is to achieve the Jens Andreasen Life-time Achievement Award for work completed on behalf of Dental Traumatology. IADT will consider additional ways to honour his memory in the coming months.

I have been in touch with Burwood RSL and given re-enforcement of restrictions we will need to cancel the August 4 meeting. November 24 is the next meeting date...but who knows?

Will keep you advised.
