❄️ Winterfest at Courtlands Village! πŸŽ‰

Last week, our residents were treated to a heartwarming Winterfest Lunch β€” a celebration of community, laughter, and the joys of the season.

🍽️ A delicious three-course meal was served, warming both hearts and bellies. From the hearty entrée to the indulgent dessert, every bite was a delight!

🎢 The room came alive with live entertainment, with toe-tapping tunes and lots of dancing, singing, and smiling all around.

Moments like these remind us that Courtlands Village is more than just a place to live β€” it's a place to thrive, to connect, and to celebrate life together.

πŸŽͺ Our Courtlands community in North Parramatta came alive yesterday for a fantastic Market Day event, and our residents had a wonderful time exploring the different stalls. From a sizzling sausage stand to pancakes, ice cream and lemonade, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

There was plenty of fun at the games table, and the novelty stall was a big hit, with residents redeeming their vouchers for a range of goodies. Thank you to everyone involved! 😊

πŸ‘‹ We were honoured to welcome Donna Davis, State Member for Parramatta, to Northcourt Aged Care earlier this year. Donna enjoyed a chat with some of our residents over morning tea, had a tour, and was pleased to learn more about the care and support we provide.

Following her visit, she was sent a thank you message, to which she kindly replied, expressing how much she had enjoyed her day. β™₯️

🌟 NAIDOC Week 2025: Did you know Kallangur is an indigenous word for "a good place"? Well everyone at Maranatha certainly agrees!

Our residents and team members enjoyed celebrating and recognising the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples this week on Yugarabul country. We have residents at Maranatha with Aboriginal heritage who loved to engage in our NAIDOC events together with all our residents.

They started off by having a talk on what NAIDOC week is all about, acknowledging our Aboriginal residents with our Wellbeing Cultural and Spiritual Coordinator, Carmel, hosting, and then watching interesting videos she had collated on Aboriginal culture including our local Brisbane and surrounds names and meaning in Aboriginal language. During the session we enjoyed some homemade damper made by our new cafe worker Kerry.

Later in the week they held an Indigenous word game session and enjoyed NAIDOC craft, and our Maranatha internal TV channel showed many NAIDOC themed shows and videos.

Residents also enjoyed a themed lunch menu of Kangaroo Stew & Barramundi, with sweet potatoes & bush lime cheesecake for dessert.

Happy NAIDOC Week Maranatha community! ❀️

Ron met Robyn on a blind date, and the two married in January 1978. After moving a few times, they eventually settled into their dream home in South Strathfield.

When Robyn’s health declined, she moved to Northcourt. Ron sold their home and moved into Courtlands Village to be close to her. Eventually, as his own health changed, he joined Robyn at Northcourt so they could be together.

Ron, the eldest of three, grew up in Sydney’s inner west, in Leichhardt and Rozelle, and attended Rozelle Public School. He began working in factories before buying his own truck at 20, eventually joining Fowler Brothers. He spent 40 years delivering toys under a contract with Cyclops.

Robyn was born at St Margaret’s Hospital in Darlinghurst and raised in Mascot alongside her younger twin sisters, Lesley and Michelle. She attended local Catholic schools, finishing secondary at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart in Kensington.

Ron and Robyn have three children, Lesley, Ronald and Michelle. They shared a love of travel, and highlights include a prize trip to Singapore and visits to Norfolk, Rottnest, and Lord Howe Islands. Ron especially enjoyed nature, fishing at Kiama and Apple Tree Bay.

Today, Ron enjoys bus trips, gardening, dominoes, and all kinds of music, while Robyn prefers quiet time with word puzzles and magazines.

We are privileged to care for this beautiful couple at Northcourt.πŸ’—

"Jill and I have been coming to Ashburn House each Monday to help run the Bingo sessions for a number of years now. We always look forward to the occasions: the staff are always welcoming, sincere, caring, and helpful. We enjoy immensely the time spent with your guests and the interactions we have with them. You all make our visits fulfilling.

As for ourselves, we have been married for 63 years; 62 of them we have lived in Gladesville. In her early life, Jill lived in Maitland and Newcastle; I come from Tamworth. Both Jill and I were schoolteachers.

We have eight children and quite a number of grandchildren and four great grandchildren; most of whom live in Sydney."

Thank you for everything you do for our residents! β™₯️
