Our Story

Glebe Division as part of St John Ambulance Australia (NSW), is the oldest and first registered division in Australia. Established in 1903 - Glebe Ambulance Brigade quickly became an essential and integral part of its surrounding Sydney community and Glebe Division is now its legacy. We are the longest continuously serving division in Australia since the formation of St John Ambulance nationally.

Glebe Division services the communites extending from Inner West Council through to the Sydney CBD and Sydney Harbour islands. We are a division of volunteers who are passionate about providing professional event health services, serving its community and most importantly, creating positive and life-enriching experiences in a family-like environment. The division has long supported local community causes including charities, major fundraisers and, local events that have a cause.

We invest strongly into our community by ensuring we have properly trained first aid officers, well equipped health care professionals - and providing a standard of service that is unparalleled compared to other providers.

We work hard at maintaining our volunteer ethos, and when you see us around at an event you will be engaged in an atmosphere that’s friendly, warm and approachable. Our volunteers at our events are people who live, work and whose daily lives are structured around its community, which is the unique experience and service no other provider can guarantee to offer. If you’re interested in seeing what we do feel free to pop by a St John tent at an event (we’re always up for a chat!). Of if you’re interested in becoming a volunteer, please don’t hesitate to come along to our weekly meetings on Wednesdays at 7pm.
