Not necessarily. 🤍

One of the biggest misconceptions in the skin industry is thinking more depth automatically creates better collagen stimulation and better outcomes.

But skin doesn’t respond best to aggression.

It responds best to:
✨ Correct technique
✨ Appropriate depth
✨ Controlled stimulation
✨ Healing support
✨ Skin integrity
✨ Nervous system safety

Going deeper than necessary can sometimes create:
⚡ Excess inflammation
⚡ Prolonged downtime
⚡ Barrier disruption
⚡ Sensitivity
⚡ Delayed healing
⚡ Potential long-term damage

Collagen stimulation begins much earlier than most people realise.

That’s why treatment depth should ALWAYS be:

MYTH: You NEED numbing cream for microneedling 😳

Not necessarily. 🤍

This is something I think needs to be discussed more honestly in the industry.

Personally… I don’t use numbing cream in my treatments and never have — not on clients, family or myself.

Partly because of insurance and licensing regulations…

But also because I believe people underestimate how much numbing cream can interfere with the treatment itself.

Pain and discomfort are feedback.

If the skin is completely numbed, it can become much easier to overwork the skin without fully realising how aggressive the treatment actually feels.

And honestly…
some of the most reactive, inflamed and overworked skins I’ve personally seen after microneedling involved:
⚡ Aggressive depths
⚡ Excessive passes
⚡ Numbing cream
⚡ Over-treatment

Numbing creams can also temporarily constrict blood vessels and sometimes contribute to:
✨ Redness
✨ Swelling
✨ Irritation
✨ Tingling
✨ Prolonged sensitivity

That does NOT mean numbing cream should never be used.

But I do believe it should be discussed realistically — not automatically assumed as part of every microneedling treatment.

Skin responds beautifully to:
✔ Correct technique
✔ Appropriate depth
✔ Nervous system regulation
✔ Healing support
✔ Consistency over aggression

And honestly…
many clients tolerate treatments far better than they expect when they feel calm, informed and regulated throughout the session. 🤍
