Today we meet SABINO

How was the limb lost?

Sabino was working as a long haul tractor trailer driver. Due to bad conditions and lack of sleep he fell asleep at the wheel. The truck flipped over and he was thrown from the vehicle. Somehow, the violence of the accident and being thrown from the truck, both of his legs were injured. He lost consciousness. Once in hospital it was decided that one leg needed amputation, the other leg was miraculously saved. For the next year Sabino spent the majority of his time in and out of the hospital.

Sabino managed to get a prosthesis (not from CMA) but it didn't fit properly and caused a wound to form on his stump. We have his leg ready, we are waiting for the wound to heal sufficiently so he can use his new CMA prosthesis correctly. Sabino is hoping to get back to driving when he gets his leg. Maybe not a big truck, but at least a taxi.

How did his life change due to the amputation?

After the accident and amputation he was devastated because he couldn't provide for his wife and children anymore. He also had a big debt for his medical costs. The most upsetting thing for Sabino is how the accident and amputation has separated him from his three children.

How has having a prosthetic limb transformed his life?

Sabino is looking forward to returning to driving after he gets his prosthesis. Maybe not a big truck like before, but perhaps a taxi. He wants to repair his relationship with his family and provide financially for them again.
