Coaching with Caroline

Coaching with Caroline Hi, I'm Caroline, mother of two wonderful children, dedicated yoga practitioner, Life coach, and registered and certified Yoga Therapist.

As a support worker and Yoga therapist, my mission is to help my clients build confidence and self-worth so they can live a fulfilled life and reach their potential. Before I discovered yoga in my early forties, I was crushed by a negative self-image, low self-worth, and low self-confidence. Right up until my early adult years, I had no self-confidence and didn’t like myself. I thought everyone else was better than me and doubted myself in every area of life. I had no purpose other than getting through each day. This underlying emotional state combined with raising two children made my lack of self-confidence worse. As a full time mum, I thought I never had anything interesting to say, and I felt uncomfortable socially. Life was not very much fun and I spent it hiding behind my children. Then I decided it was time to change and started yoga and therapy at the same time. The results were astounding. In no time I was feeling much more at ease with myself, calmer, and my self-confidence was growing... and still does to this day. I really believe that if you want change in your life, you can. All you need is the willingness to change. Join our "Grow Confident Community for Women" to get started on your journey now!

"Your communication is your continuation...it remains long after you've left." —Thich Nhat Hanh

Any conversation can benefit from preparation.

How often do you launch a Zoom meeting or call someone without first taking a few moments to prepare yourself for the interaction?

How many conflicts or unintentional hurts could have been avoided or resolved sooner if you'd taken time to gather yourself before interacting with another person?

We all have room for growth here. Let's practice preparing for conversation:

1. Self-Empathy Check-In: Clock your internal weather. What do you need? Can you meet that need now or acknowledge it and come back to it later?

2. Centre Yourself: Relax your jaw, shoulders, belly. Notice the chair or the ground beneath your feet supporting you.

3. Slow Down: Simply observing your breath and your thoughts can be enough to slow them down in a few minutes.

4. Be Intentional: What do you want to bring to the conversation you're about to have? Do you want to listen to a friend without judgment? Or bring a sense of peace to a stressful work situation?

🧘‍♀️ "Never make a permanent decision based on a temporary emotion." 🧘‍♂️

Imagine quitting your job in a moment of frustration? We've all been there, and some of us have done it. Or screaming at your kids only to realise moments later you were in the wrong? What you do, think and say today creates your future. Emotions are powerful, but they're also fleeting.

All my posts this month are about managing emotions. Check them out. Give yourself time to step back and ask yourself the right questions before you say or do anything, or beat yourself up for feeling again. 🌿✨

LOVE THIS ANALOGY- I don't know who wrote it, unfortunately.
"You're holding a cup of coffee and someone accidentally bumps into you, causing it to spill everywhere.
Why did you spill the coffee?
"Because someone bumped into me."
Wrong answer.
You spilled the coffee because there was coffee in your cup. If there had been tea in the cup, you would have spilled tea.
Whatever is inside the cup is what will spill out.
So, when life shakes you up, whatever is inside you will come out.
It's easy to pretend everything's fine until you're shaken.
So, we have to ask ourselves, "What's in my cup?"
When life gets tough, what spills over? Joy? Gratitude? Peace? Humility? Anger? Bitterness? A victim mentality? A tendency to quit?
Remember LIFE gives you the cup; YOU choose what to fill it with.

In our fast-paced society, busy-ness is worn as a badge of honour and perceived as a strength. But is it really a strength? Why do we glorify busyness so much?

Does Nature hurry to grow as many flowers as possible within a determined time frame? Nope. What if we took a cue from nature, at least once a day for a few minutes? What would that do for our mental fitness?

It's easy to cherish the moments filled with joy, excitement, and love. These "good" emotions are often celebrated and welcomed with open arms. But what about those moments when we feel anger, sadness, or fear?

This month let's explore these. I'm purposely giving you ONE emotion at a time to give you time to process.

To me, anger mostly means a boundary has been crossed. What about you?

That's a good question to ask yourself whenever anger arises this week 😊

If Pooh says it then...

All jokes aside, it's okay to feel overwhelmed, especially at the start of a new week.Sometimes life feels a bit too much.

Take a deep breath and remind yourself that it's okay to not be okay all the time. You're doing the best you can, and that's enough.

Embrace each moment with self-compassion and kindness. Let's take it one step at a time, together. 💖

And by the way, I will soon have a 5 breaths reset meditation available for anyone on Insight Timer. And it's free 😊.

Thoughts?

How many times did you berate yourself for something minor, or that you had NO CONTROL over this week?

Was it worth it?

It's a fact. Our mental health can suffer the most when we're our own harshest critics. Remember, being kind to yourself is crucial. Self-compassion helps us grow stronger and more resilient. Instead of giving yourself a hard time, practice patience and understanding. We're all a work in progress. 💚

🌟 **Is Your Inner Critic a Friend or Foe?** 🌟

We all have that inner voice that comments on our actions and decisions. Sometimes, it can be helpful, guiding us to make better choices. But often, it turns into a harsh critic, pointing out every flaw and mistake. 🤔

Being overly critical towards yourself can be exhausting and damaging to your mental health- I know- I was my inner bully for the longest time! But things started to change when I started to give myself a bit of self-compassion. 💛 The key?Treat yourself with the same kindness and understanding you would offer a friend. It's okay to make mistakes; they are part of our growth journey. 🌱

Next time your inner critic/bully speaks up, pause and ask: Is this helping or hurting? 🫶

If getting up to brush your teeth feels like you're climbing Mount Everest, well, getting out of bed is climbing half of Mount Everest.

So. Be kind to yourself.
We're all doing our best.

It’s so important to remember that negative comments often reflect the speaker’s own struggles, not your worth or abilities. Stay true to yourself, keep shining, and don't let others' negativity dim your light. You are amazing just as you are!

It's a powerful reminder that often, the biggest barrier to our success is our own hesitation. When we step out of our comfort zones and face challenges head-on, we find that those seemingly impossible tasks become achievable.

Remember, growth happens when we dare to take that first step, no matter how daunting it might seem. So, let’s embrace our fears and transform difficulties into opportunities. You’ve got this!

Story

Yoga and meditation turned my life around. From an anxious, depressive and stressed out person, I became calm and clear minded. I became a better mom, wife, friend, daughter, and sister thanks to a sustained practice for over a decade.

If I can do it you can do it too. I support you become the best possible you, and tackle the challenges of motherhood with more ease. Imagine how your life could be if:

  • You get to know, understand, and respect your own body. How it moves, how it can become more limber, more open, stronger. Mindful movement creates new pathways in your brain and body, allowing you to advance in age gracefully!

  • Learn to take care of yourself, from the inside out!
