🍽️ Hospitality is facing a major skills shortage, with 21,400 more workers needed by 2028. One powerful solution is inclusive hiring.

We’re proud to be featured in the Wentworth Courier (by The Daily Telegraph), sharing our Founder Story and Co-Hive’s mission to bridge the gap between school and open employment for young adults with disability.

Through our Employment Pathways and Hospitality & Tourism pathways, we help participants build the skills and confidence to move into meaningful employment to hospitality.

A great example is our partnership with Josh Michel and William Angliss, where our Hospitality & Tourism Pathways participants have completed RSA, Cookery and Food Handling certifications—equipping them with the qualifications they need to thrive in the workforce.

✨ A special shout-out to our Co-Hive Employment Pathways participant and Ambassador Leader, Ajay, who also featured in the story. His employment journey shows what is possible when inclusion is at the centre. Starting with skill-building in Employment Pathways at our Alexandria Hub, progressing to a work experience at Mercure Hotels, and now thriving in permanent part-time award wage employment at Moxy Hotel, Ajay is a true example of what inclusive pathways can achieve.

At Co-Hive, we believe hospitality can lead the way in inclusion, and we are committed to building scalable, sustainable pathways that benefit both participants and industry.

Over two fantastic days at the Sydney Disability Expo & WorkAbility , we met so many new families, connected with potential Co-Hivers, and shared what makes Co-Hive different.

𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁? 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀.

They weren’t just attendees. They were integral to the event. From setting up the Co-Hive booth to volunteering across the expo floor, they took ownership of their roles with pride and professionalism, supported by our dedicated team and the expo organisers.

Our Ambassador Leaders even joined Kim, our Founder & CEO, on stage to present our Employment Pathways Model, showing firsthand what self-determination, skill-building, and confidence look like in action.

This is Co-Hive in motion — creating opportunities for young adults with disability to practise real-world skills, connect with community, and shine in spaces where their talents are valued. Guided by our values of Empowerment through Self-Determination, Collaboration and Connection, and Equity and Respect, we are not just talking about inclusion, we are living it.

We are truly thankful to the Sydney Disability & Workability Expo for partnering with us and providing this avenue for our participants to gain meaningful work experience and put their skills into practice.

Here’s to more moments where our participants lead the way, inspire others, and show the world what is possible 💛

Our Co-Hivers absolutely smashed City2Surf today 🏅

In true Sydney style, even the wettest race in 12 years couldn’t stop them. 🌧️ Side by side with 90,000 others, they powered through the 14km from the CBD to Bondi, showing grit, self-determination, and plenty of heart.

Shoutout to our Ambassador Leaders Oli, Riley, and Nicky for braving the early start and making it another win. 👏 We’re so proud of you all! 💛

Inclusion isn’t just about being present — it’s about being in charge.

For too long, young adults with disability have been included without being empowered. But real inclusion means having the freedom to make choices, take risks, and shape your own future.

At Co-Hive, we’re not just creating programs — we’re creating pathways. We support young people to build the skills, confidence, and networks they need to take control of their lives.

Because when you’re in control of your own decisions, that’s when true independence begins.
