Did you know that One Door run peer-lead social support groups?

Our trained peer leaders host events across the Sydney and Newcastle areas. These are free and accessible to everyone over 18. Last week, our Casula group (recently renamed the Liverpool group) welcomed 16 members in its biggest yet catch-up at the Liverpool Powerhouse Museum (formerly Casula Powerhouse)! This is a great morning of community connection, where folks can browse the gallery or markets, chat over a hot drink and a snack, take a walk along the river, and enjoy each other's company.

If you're interested in joining one of our groups, head to www.onedoor.org.au/support-groups or find us on Meetup.com under Strong and Social.

Honouring Culture, Connecting Community – NAIDOC at Tharawal Family Fun Day

One Door was proud to be part of the NAIDOC Week celebrations at Campbelltown Stadium, where the spirit of community, culture, and connection was truly alive!

We had the joy of engaging with so many wonderful people, sharing information about our many mental health services—from peer support and psychosocial recovery to carer support and NDIS services—and handing out our fellowship gift bags. We were joined by Josh from Yarning Crescent, who kindly shared their flyers at our stall and added to the collaborative spirit of the day.

We were especially honoured to be greeted by our favourite Aunty Joyce, whose warmth and wisdom brought a beautiful energy to our space. Positioned close to the stage, we soaked in the vibrant Tharawal music and performances, which filled the air with celebration.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, had a yarn, and helped make the day so special.

NAIDOC Week in Penrith – A Day to Remember

On Friday 11 July, One Door Mental Health and Yarning Crescent hosted a vibrant NAIDOC celebration in Penrith. The event honoured this year’s theme, “The Next Generations: Strength, Vision and Legacy,” by celebrating the leadership of young people, the wisdom of Elders, and the strength of First Nations communities.

The day featured cultural performances, live music, weaving and bush tucker workshops, market stalls, and a warm Welcome to Country. One Door Mental Health also partnered with Yarning Crescent to host a community stall, offering resources, conversations, and support around mental health and wellbeing.

Families enjoyed traditional games, a free BBQ, and access to health and wellbeing services in a welcoming, inclusive space.

Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate culture, community and Country.

One Door at Tharawal NAIDOC Family Fun Day – Couridjah

One Door loved being part of the vibrant and windy celebrations at the Tharawal NAIDOC Family Fun Day, held at the Tharawal Local Aboriginal Land Council in Couridjah.

We had a blast engaging with the community — sharing stories, playing Spin the Wheel with families and new friends, and enjoying the lively atmosphere.

The day was filled with powerful cultural performances, a moving Smoking Ceremony, and a strong sense of pride, resilience, and connection to Country.

We were especially honoured by a visit from the beautiful Aunty Joyce, whose presence always brings joy, wisdom, and warmth. She’s truly one of our favourites.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our stall — your energy and spirit made the day unforgettable.

Celebrating NAIDOC Week at Claymore!

One Door Mental Health was proud to host a stall at the opening of the new Claymore Opportunity Hub as part of the NAIDOC Week celebrations.

We had the pleasure of meeting Nola, one of the amazing frontliners who invited us to this family-friendly event. We were warmly welcomed by local families, enjoyed a sausage sizzle, Krispy Kreme donuts, and great music from a live DJ!

We were also honoured to be visited by the Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr Darcy Lound, whose support added to the spirit of the day.

Campbelltown NAIDOC Week 2025 – Community Connections Day

We were honoured to be invited to stand alongside community at the Campbelltown Civic Centre for the NAIDOC Flag Raising Ceremony, where cultural performances and a moving address by Mayor Cr. Darcy Lound set the tone for a week of celebration and reflection.

This year’s theme, “The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy,” reminds us of the importance of supporting and uplifting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people as they carry forward the legacy of their Elders.

The morning march to Campbelltown Billabong Parklands was a powerful symbol of unity, leading into a vibrant Community Connections Day filled with storytelling, connection, and pride.

We’re grateful to have been part of this moment and to continue learning, listening, and walking together.

The One Door Story

When one faces the challenges of mental illness, the sky darkens, the weather cools and no shelter can be found. Hope for recovery, for the future, for the community and for each other, can seem to fade. As you traverse the mental health landscape of help, advice, information, services, hospitals and research, it can feel like you are being blown in the wind. This journey can take you down dark alleys and over challenging peaks. What is needed on this journey are signs of hope. Signposts of brightness. Welcoming lights at the end of the road. And what better people to create these signs than those who have gone before you. Those who, for over 30 years, have pioneered paths, supported friends, provided direction and changed the landscape.

Those whose passion belongs in making the world a better place for people who live with a mental illness or care for someone with a mental illness. Those who have planted so many seeds of hope and recovery along the way, they have left a path lit by brightness for those coming after. Those who understand, and are waiting for you to arrive. Standing on the threshold are the people from One Door Mental Health – with information, education, advocacy and most importantly arms open with care and kindness. One Door through which to access a diverse mental health recovery community. A place where those living with mental illness, those caring for someone with a mental illness, and those advocating and supporting people with a mental illness come to share, so that you only have to make one journey. You’ll know where to find the people from One Door because their symbol of hope is the sunflower. For the sunflower turns towards the light; its bright petals unique, and its core bringing them together. When you see the sunflower along your journey, you’ll know that is where you’ll find expert advice and a whole community of people who have walked your path and who are ready to help you walk yours. The sunflower leads to One Door, a place of hope on your mental health journey.

Welcome.
