We attended the Hornsby Disability Expo today and hosted our stall. It was wonderful to meet and talk with people interested in music therapy and art therapy, as well as to connect with other allied health and disability support providers. We also had conversations with some of them about our current climate with the NDIS (interestingly, the NDIS stall was right next to ours…).
The event was a great opportunity for us to refresh our thoughts and update our brochure and other materials too!

Sorry for not updating over the past couple of months! I was overseas and then down with nasty bronchitis, as some of you may know😷 I’m finally back at work, and I have some exciting news—our entrance door and windows now have beautiful new signage!💜
The team at Minuteman Press St Leonards did an excellent job—I highly recommend them. I just love how the signage looks on the glass!🎶

We’ve been invited to perform Japanese songs at a cross-cultural event at the Pioneer Theatre in Castle Hill, organised by Hills Community Aid, this Wednesday morning.
It was a last-minute request, so only a small group of us could join — a few members from our Community Band, a student, and a support worker have come together to form a performing group.
We’ll be playing 3 Japanese songs. The event is already sold out, so unfortunately we can’t invite you — but we'll share some photos and videos afterwards♪

Staff gathering at our new venue last night! It’s been taking a long time to set up our new space, but we finally had all our staff together to brainstorm the future of Musical Between. This marks the beginning of our exciting new chapter!

Various food was brought to share that is called Mochiyori in Japan. It was a yummy, warm and fruitful night. Musical Between is so lucky to have such a wonderful team. Just share our potential new catch copy we came up with yesterday - “I and You make We as One - Musical Between” 💜

🌟 Let us introduce our new prac student, Anuk, from the Creative Music Therapy course at Western Sydney University for this semester. Anuk is an international student from Mongolia. She was a girl dreaming of becoming a singer and at the last year of high school, she won first prize in the Japan Song Contest, hosted by the Japanese Embassy. However, she chose a different path and studied medicine, becoming a doctor. Now 10 years later, Anuk has decided to return to her original dream—this time, with a new vision. She’s studying to become a music therapist, hoping to combine her medical background with her passion for music. Her goal is to pioneer music therapy in Mongolia in the near future!👏✨

We hung this Aboriginal painting on our purple wall last week💜 I fell in love with it before the move. It's titled “Water Dreaming” by Susie Watson Nangala, painted in 2023.
Hope our service will flow like this beautiful water streaming.

The Independent Review of NDIS Funded Music and Art Supports, led by Dr Stephen Duckett, was finalised last week. The report has now been delivered to the National Disability Insurance Agency for consideration.

AMTA welcomes the NDIA's reiteration there have been no changes to the way music therapy is treated under the NDIS, which we hope will help alleviate some of the misunderstanding and anxiety in the disability and music therapy community.

The report is with the NDIA for its consideration, after which it will be published in full, with its response and updated guidance.
