😴THE IMPORTANCE OF SLEEP 😴

When it comes to recovery (from exercise, injuries or surgery) sleep plays a pivotal role.
Try to get at least 8-9 hours of sleep every night, especially when your training volume is high or you’re nursing an injury.

If you can’t get enough sleep, make sure to adjust your training volume/activity level accordingly and your risk of injury will be increased.
When you fuel your body with the right nutrients as well you’ve covered 90% of what’s important. Focus on these two first and then do the additional 10%.

DID YOU KNOW?

Researchers looking at Achilles tendon problems identified that calf strength in the injured AND uninjured limb were substantially lower than a healthy ‘control’ population. It shows that for those with Achilles tendon problems, strength in the ‘good’ leg isn’t as good as we might think. Strength targets should be based on population averages with consideration given to the individual’s circumstances, i.e. goals and injury history.

and myself took on the last Sunday and we had a blast!

Did we train enough? - maybe…possibly not
Did we hurt after? - Definitely!..but good hurt
Would we do it again? - I would…Roy is a maybe
Did we have fun? - Absolutely!

Our training might not have been optimal but we adjusted our goals accordingly and still managed to enjoy the event.

With a suboptimal training block (like most training blocks are) make sure you adjust your goals and expectations.
