BODY FAT PERCENTAGE & the main reasons why it looks different on different individuals. PART 1!
We’ve all seen the above example style images before that illustrate different BF%’s. Often people find out their BF% however they visually don’t look the same as the attached pic. So here is Part 1 of the reasons as to why 😎
BF%’s AT DIFFERENT WEIGHTS MEAN TOTALLY DIFFERENT THINGS!
Often we have males scan with us that have a goal of getting to 10% BF. While there’s nothing wrong with the goal, it’s important to understand that it visually looks different at different weights. For example:
70kgs = 7kg of body fat to be 10%
80kgs = 8kg of body fat to be 10%
90kgs = 9kg of body fat to be 10%
So as you can imagine, the rate of lean mass on an individual is far more as weight increases, outside of things like water weight, mineral etc..
This is also in part the reason why it’s far more difficult to sustain a lower BF% as your weight increases as the ratio of lean mass you need to build to keep the % low becomes incredibly challenging 😅
The good news is however, that the higher in weight you go, generally the higher in % you can to be to visually have the same effect. Ie someone who 100kg at 15-17% can still visually look as lean as someone who weights 85kg at 10% as even though the heavier person has more body fat, they also have more lean mass to expose💪
Also consider that outside of pure aesthetics, performance would generally significantly increase as your overall mass increases aswell 😉
STAY TUNED for Part 2 coming next week
