South Narrabeen SLSC Keeping the beach safe since 1922 Our primary role is to save lives on the beach. Surf Life Saving is much more than just saving lives on the beach.

Volunteer Lifesavers have been iconic sight on Australian beaches for more than a century, are recognised world-wide and provide a unique community service. Surf lifesavers are easily recognised by the famous red and yellow cap, and their bright red and yellow uniforms. A key priority for us is reaching out to all Australians through Community Education. We aim to teach all Australians how to keep

themselves and their families safe at the beach. We do this through:
* Specifically targeted campaigns eg. rockfishing, rip currents, multi-lingual surf safety. See more on beach safety
* School education programs eg. Beach to Bush
Surf Ed programs delivered by our Branches and licensed providers
* Community courses eg. First Aid, CPR, Junior

🧡💙 THANK YOU SOUTHY 🧡💙

From October to April, our members watched over more than 11,000 beachgoers at Southy. Across 67 patrols, our seven patrol teams contributed an incredible 3,125 patrol hours, carrying out 53 preventative actions and three rescues.

Most importantly, the season finished with no lives lost.

A huge thank you to all of our volunteers who give their time, energy and commitment to make Southy the club it is. We couldn't do it without you 👏

This National Volunteer Week, we want to say a huge thank you to all of the volunteers who make Southy what it is 🧡💙

From patrols and training to water safety, Nippers, BBQs, events and everything behind the scenes, the club runs because of the time and effort our members give week in and week out.

Thank you for everything you do to help keep Southy safe, welcoming and fun for our community, and to every Surf Lifesaver who shows up for their community.

Southy now has a Shark Bite Trauma Kit available at the club.

The kit contains tourniquets, bandages and wound dressings to assist in emergency situations and is located on the wall in front of our patrol room.

If you call 000 in an emergency, the operator can assist with instructions on how to use the kit, however we encourage everyone to regularly refresh their knowledge and skills around tourniquet application and trauma response.
