This exercise engages the scapular stabilisers including the serratus anterior, lower trapezius, and rhomboids while encouraging smooth shoulder elevation through a functional range. It is especially useful for individuals with frozen shoulder, anterior impingement post-operative stiffness, as it facilitates gradual mobility gains while reinforcing scapular control.
By combining mobility with stability, the wall crawl improves functional overhead reach, dressing, and lifting tasks. It retrains the shoulder complex to move in synchrony with the scapula, enhancing posture, reducing compensatory strain, and supporting long-term shoulder health in everyday activities.
