Bosu ball squats
This exercise uses the BOSU ball to challenge your quadriceps, glutes, hamstrings, and core, with a strong emphasis on eccentric control - the slow, controlled lowering phase of the squat.
It’s commonly used in rehab for knee pain, patellofemoral issues, ACL rehab, balance deficits, and lower‑limb strength retraining. The unstable surface encourages better joint awareness and muscular coordination.

Are you a Pilates patient and your studio is on a break, or you want to do some core exercises at home? This is a great exercise to work your core (even as a beginner).
Start by lying on your back on the floor on a mat. Activate your core by puling your lower abdomen in and pressing your lower back towards the floor. Bring one leg up straight to the ceiling and then bring the other leg up straight to the ceiling also. From there, cross your legs in front and then behind each other as seen in the video. You need to ensure that you are controlling it the whole time, so the movement is smooth, and you don’t place too much pressure on your lower back. Try to do this exercise for 20 seconds and then if you want to progress it then you can challenge yourself to perform it for longer.
If you have any injuries, then check with your physiotherapist before performing this exercise. If you experience any pain, then please stop, and contact your physiotherapist before continuing.
