Interested in internal medicine? 🩺 Love working as part of a dedicated team? 🥰 We want YOU on our ✨ 2026 IMSOC Exec Team! ✨

UNSW IMSoc will be holding our ✨ annual AGM ✨ on the 20th of October from 6-7:30PM ONLINE via Zoom!

Joining the team is the perfect opportunity to learn more about internal medicine, meet like-minded people, and get hands-on with organising our flagship events such as our IMSoc Conference, Cannulation Night, ECG night, and more! 🤗

No previous experience is required, and various roles are available:
- President
- Vice-President
- Secretary
- Treasurer
- Events Director (x2)
- Publicity Directors (x2)

🎤 Application Process:
During the AGM, applicants will be asked to do a brief 1 minute speech, while applicants for President and Vice President will be given 2 minutes. Voting for applicants will take place during the AGM online.

We have Dr Sean Kennedy joining us on Sunday for the 2025 IMSOC Conference!

Dr Sean Kennedy is the Program Authority for UNSW Medicine, Education Lead at the UNSW Randwick Clinical Campus, and Head of Paediatric Nephrology at Sydney Children’s Hospital. An active clinician, researcher, and educator, Sean has held key roles with ANZSN and ANZDATA, and is currently part of the ANZSN Policy & Quality Committee. He is a recognised expert in the renal aspects of tuberous sclerosis complex and continues research through the Sydney Children’s Hospital TSC Clinic. Passionate about medical education, Sean is leading curriculum reform at UNSW and contributes nationally through the Medical Deans of Australia & New Zealand.

OUR 3️⃣RD SPEAKER MAY BE FAMILIAR TO SOME…

Melvin was in the first year of the ‘new’ six-year UNSW Medicine course in 1990. He lived at Goldstein College and moved out when placed at the St George Clinical School in Year 4. He did his internship overseas and returned in the year of the Sydney Olympics eventually completing advanced training at POW-St George Hospitals. He works as a clinical academic medical oncologist at POW Hospital. His interest in management led him to become a head of department even while he was the youngest consultant then. He looks after patients, teaches medical students, supervises junior doctors (and 2 ILP students), chairs the SESLHD HREC and attends a lot of meetings.

🎉 WELCOMING OUR 2️⃣ND SPEAKER…

Dr Paul Lilburn is an interventional pulmonologist working at Prince of Wales Hospital. He has a number of peer reviewed publications and has also presented at national and international conferences. Dr Lilburn (Paul) enjoys medical teaching and is a conjoint lecturer for the University of New South Wales. Dr Lilburn is the thoracic society (TSANZ) convener for the Interventional Pulmonology special interest group and will be involved in organising the World Congress for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology in Melbourne in 2026.

Paul plans to talks to us about his career path and the rapidly evolving field of interventional pulmonology which hopes to help shape improvements in lung cancer care in the future.

Armando Faigl is the creator of Armando Hasudungan Biology and Medicine Videos, a free online educational resource that began in 2011. He is also the founder of Visualizing Medicine, a company focused on creating simple, effective medical illustrations and animations. Armando is currently completing specialty training in Rheumatology in Australia and is passionate about combining medicine with education through both online and live presentations.

Come along to IMSoc’s Conference on 9th August to meet Dr Faigl and ask your burning questions 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️!!
