Knots in your muscles are areas of tense muscle fibres that have become tight and contracted.

They can develop due to various factors, including:

Muscle Overuse or Strain ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป
Repetitive motions or prolonged periods of muscle use can lead to muscle fatigue and tension, causing knots to form.

Poor Posture ๐Ÿง
Maintaining improper posture for extended periods can strain muscles and lead to the development of knots, especially in the neck, shoulders, and back.

Muscle Injury ๐Ÿค•
Trauma or injury to a muscle can cause it to become tense and form knots as part of the healing process.

Emotional Stress ๐Ÿ˜–
Stress and tension can manifest physically in the body, leading to muscle tightness and the formation of knots, particularly in the neck, shoulders, and upper back.

Dehydration ๐ŸŒต
Inadequate hydration can cause muscles to become stiff and prone to developing knots.

Nutritional Deficiencies ๐Ÿฅ—
Lack of certain nutrients, such as magnesium and potassium, can contribute to muscle tension and the formation of knots.

Lack of Movement ๐Ÿช‘
Prolonged periods of inactivity or immobility can lead to muscle stiffness and the development of knots.

Medical Conditions ๐Ÿฅ
Certain medical conditions, such as fibromyalgia, myofascial pain syndrome, and muscular dystrophy, can increase the likelihood of developing muscle knots.

Bowen Therapy may help with muscle knots by promoting relaxation and releasing tension in the affected muscles.

Bowen's gentle, non-invasive techniques stimulate the body's natural healing response, encouraging muscles to unwind and release built-up tension.

This may help to soften and reduce the intensity of muscle knots, to improve flexibility, range of motion, and overall muscle function.

Bowen Therapy may also help to address underlying issues contributing to the formation of muscle knots, such as poor posture or muscular imbalances.

One of the first things learnt in any health modality I have been taught is FIRST DO NO HARM.

Safety ALWAYS comes first!

As pregnancy massage therapistโ€™s, there are two questions we always always ask every single treatment:

How is the fetal movement?
Any bleeding?

If there has been ANY changes in fetal movement that isnโ€™t normal please get checked out (babies develop a pattern or a time of day theyโ€™re most active).
If you have ANY bleeding please get checked out.

All changes are important, please always mention any and all changes to us when you come for a treatment. For us to do our job properly, we prefer to have the most current and up to date health information of you and your baby, which is why we ask you to come within a few days of your antenatal appointment and why we always have a short consultation prior to your treatment.

If we feel that there are any contraindications when you come for your treatment we will ask you to contact your antenatal provider immediately. If we are not comfortable providing a treatment because of your presentation on the day, we will not proceed with your treatment. We love our work and we hate not being able to treat you when you come in for your appointment, please time your appointments so they fall shortly after your antenatal appointments to avoid having your treatment cancelled.

The health and safety of you and your baby always come first.
