Myth versus Fact!

Myopia is progressive. It will begin as mild but may progress in severity to moderate or high myopia. The earlier myopia starts, the greater chance your child has of developing high myopia. When did you last have your child's eyes examined? To find out more, contact us or visit www.childmyopia.com

Do you look at this image and feel like you're falling into a hole? Apparently 86% of people will see it that way. 🕳😱

It's not every day you see a completely new visual illusion - but that's what neuroscientists from Norway and Japan say they've created. Designed by Akiyoshi Kitaoka and published in the journal Frontiers in Human Neuroscience, it's a stationary image - but most people will look at it and see the black area appear to expand, as if entering a dark tunnel.

The researchers studied people's eyes as they looked at the illusion, and found that the perception of the hole expanding actually caused people's pupils to dilate. They say this shows that our pupils react to the level of light that we *perceive* - eg the illusory sensation that we are entering a black hole - not necessarily the amount of light and darkness that is actually in front of us. 🤯

Children need to be in a good working position for screen time, just like adults. Make sure your child's chair is at a good height. A viewing angle of about 15% downwards and that their feet can touch the ground.
