We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Swaab through the Sydney Breast Clinic Corporate Program.

Since the beginning of this collaboration, their support has enabled greater access to vital breast screening for their staff, making a real difference in workplace wellness. These partnerships are invaluable in creating a space for proactive care and empowered conversation around breast care.

We are always looking to partner with like-minded organisations. If you are an employer ready to take action or an employee passionate to spark that conversation, get in touch to discuss how we can work together.

Patients with breast implants can now access specialised Contrast Enhanced mammography (CEM) at Sydney Breast Clinic. While this technology has been around for some time, it hasn’t always been accessible for women with breast implants at SBC, until now.

How does it work?
Breast implants require a unique technique of mammographic imaging in order to thoroughly screen the breast tissue around the implant. Images are taken with both the implant in view and displaced, by gently pushing the implant back towards the chest wall and pulling the breast tissue forward. This helps capture more of the natural breast tissue without the dense implants obscuring the image.

To further our commitment to personalised and inclusive breast care, the SBC Implant Clinic imaging service can now include CEM for appropriate patients.
This means greater accuracy, less uncertainty and better outcomes.

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women aged 20 to 39. While routine screening programs start at age 40, breast cancer does not wait for milestones. That’s why it is so important to know your breasts and understand what is normal for you.

At Sydney Breast Clinic, we are passionate about empowering young women with knowledge of their risk and confidence in their breast health. Our Under 40’s Breast Check is designed specifically for women under 40 who do not have symptoms but want to take proactive steps in understanding their breasts and detecting any concerns as early as possible.

This subsidised appointment includes a thorough clinical assessment with one of our specialist breast physicians, as well as an ultrasound, with additional mammography imaging or biopsy procedures offered if required. For patients with Category D Density breasts, which can be evaluated in consultation with your SBC specialist, you may be eligible for BREASTEST plus - a non-invasive blood test used alongside breast imaging to support clinical decision-making.

But this service is about so much more than imaging alone. It is about education, awareness, and building confidence. You will leave with a clearer understanding of your own risk factors, including information about your breast density, and a personalised screening plan for the future.

We believe that knowledge is power, and early detection saves lives. By knowing what is normal for you, you will feel confident to notice any changes early and seek care immediately if needed.

If you are under 40 and asymptomatic, contact Sydney Breast Clinic to book your Under 40’s Breast Check appointment or to find out more about how we can support you.

If you are experiencing any symptoms, please book a regular diagnostic appointment now.

What do you know about BRCA mutations and breast cancer?
Everyone has a BRCA1 and BRCA 2 gene, which normally function to protect us from certain cancers, particularly breast and ovarian cancers. But a mutation in one of these genes can exist in both males and females. This mutation significantly increases the risk of developing breast cancer.

Genetic mutations are often inherited through family members, although not everyone may know their risk. Consider getting genetic testing to ensure you are aware of your risk and can plan screening accordingly.

A major UK study has found that contrast enhanced mammography (CEM) detects 3x more cancers than automated ultrasound (ABUS) and standard mammography techniques in women with dense breast tissue. Cancers detected with CEM were nearly half the size of those detected by ultrasound, meaning earlier detection and better outcomes for patient prognosis.

These results were comparable to that of an Abbreviated MRI, although cheaper, quicker and more convenient.

The Sydney Breast Clinic offers Contrast Enhanced Mammography (CEM), a state-of-the-art breast imaging technique.

An intravenous contrast agent is injected immediately prior to your 3D mammogram (tomography) is performed. One image is ‘subtracted’ from the other to create an image of the blood distribution in the breast tissues. CEM improves cancer detection, particularly for those with dense breast tissue, for evaluating patients with findings that are difficult to resolve, and for further assessing patients with a diagnosis of breast cancer.
