Today is International Yoga Day and my friend made a beautiful video with students from the ashram where I am staying. You might even catch a glimpse of myself. The theme of this year's yoga day is "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam", a Sanskrit phrase meaning "the world is one family." This is also the motto of the ashram and it's mission.

On this auspicious occasion of Yoga Day 2023, the world unites in the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, a San...

Hi Everyone, and Happy New Year!

So I have been in India for the last few months, and have been helping with this challenge I've attached below 👇. It's for a wonderful cause to help children in need with education, healthcare and nutrition.

All the services provided are completely free! So an app called the OneRupee App was developed to help fund all these wonderful projects. This challenge is part of the app and for every set of Surya Sankranti you do, a rupee will be donated by one of our sponsors!

I have made some demonstration videos of the sequence which I will share shortly. The challenge has started but it continues until 14th January. So if you would like to join in, you can! Sign up to the App, or send me a message and I'll show you how to do it!

I hope you are all well, and hope you have a wonderful 2023!
Love Sophie

JOIN THE SURYA SANKRANTI CHALLENGE
-- Now open to anyone in and outside of India --

From 1–14 January 2023, use the to keep count of how many Surya Namaskar sets you can do. We're challenging you to do as many as you can each day!

For every set that you record on the app, one of our One Rupee partners will make a matching contribution of 1 rupee towards helping provide free nutrition, education and healthcare to rural children in need.

So, if you do 60 sets a day, 60 rupees will be matched by our partner thanks to you!

If 100 people do 60 sets each, then 600 rupees will be matched.

If 1,000 people do 60 sets each, then 6,000 rupees will be matched.

So the more of us get on that mat, for these 14 days, the more we'll be able to raise for children in need!

What a meaningful way to start the year.
Get Fit.
Get Healthy.
AND help children in need!

RESTORATIVE CLASS THIS SUNDAY 8th October 4.30pm

In a chronically stressed state, quality of life is at risk. The body's capacity to heal itself can be compromised, inhibiting recovery from injury or illness, or it may create new illness or injury, including high blood pressure, ulcers, back pain, immune dysfunction and depression.

The antidote to stress is relaxation. Restorative yoga focuses on relaxation, renewal, effortlessness and ease. Blankets, bolsters, straps, and other props safely support the body in various postures which allows the body to move towards a state of balance. This practice soothes your nervous system, helps you quiet your mind and invites you to release deeply held tension.

A perfect way to finish the weekend and prepare for the week ahead. Suitable for all levels.

My Story

Yoga has been in my life since I can remember. My mother would practice yoga when I was a kid and I would watch her yoga videos and read her books, trying to copy the poses. Through my teens and early twenties, I dabbled in yoga, attending different classes and studios, trying to find the right fit. It wasn’t until I met Margaret Ceresoli in 2010 that I started taking it more seriously. My eyes and mind were opened by Margaret, to the depth and possibilities of yoga and I knew I had finally found what I’d been searching for. I started attending Margaret’s classes and attended Margaret and her husband and Senior Iyengar teacher, Glenn’s, yoga retreat in Goa, India. After that, there was no looking back. I attended their two month Teacher Training in Byron Bay and started teaching in 2012. I teach at Coogee Yoga in Coogee as well as Elixr in Bondi Junction. I am also available for private, semi private and corporate yoga lessons. I am an understanding and responsive teacher who strives to help all my students get the most out of their yoga practice.
