Need to identify what fall risks might exist at your workplace?

The team at Height Safety Engineers has put together a workbook to help guide you through identifying and assessing your height safety risks. It will also help you determine if you have an existing fall protection system, what areas it covers and its state of compliance.

Keeping building ventilation and climate control systems maintained is not just a matter of keeping occupants comfortable, it is also essential in keeping them healthy.

To assist a client in keeping their HVAC system in tip-top shape, the HSE team recently completed installation of a custom access ladder and platform. The ladder and platform allow workers to have comprehensive access to the top of the HVAC cooling unit, allowing the easy and effective completion of preventative maintenance works.

To assist in giving our client a full understanding of how the different components of the system would come together on site, our team was able to construct a rendering of the platform to show how it would sit alongside the cooling unit when installed.

Improving the ability of your maintenance technicians to complete their work quickly and effectively has flow on effects to everyone that works in your building. Start your journey with the experts in fall protection.

One of the realities of high-risk work - like working at height - is that no matter much planning or mitigation you have in place, the mere fact that you are doing high-risk work means there is always the possibility there will be an accident.

What can be done, however, is to plan for what can go wrong and how it can go wrong. From there, steps can be taken to make sure potential injuries are minimised.

Emergency and rescue plans need to be part of every job that involves working at heights.

On our blog, we look at the how and why: https://heightsafety.net/news/emergency-plans-and-their-role-in-site-safety/

The need for fall protection systems exist in more places that just on roofs.

This recent job completed by our team (with an assist from our friends Tiffany and Tyson from TNT Height Safety) involved designing and installing a compliant, safe and easy to use system that worked itself in and around the interior fit-out of this warehouse.

Utilising modular walkway and ladder systems from Kattsafe safe and harness-free access is now possible.

The caged ladder, with lockable entry point, also assist in making sure only authorised personnel are able to access the system. This provides additional security and further reduces the risk of an accident occurring.

To start your journey towards safer access to those hard-to-reach areas of your building or site, call the Height Safety Engineers - the experts in fall protection.

The humble safe work method statement. Probably the most common component of a workplace's safety system.

But is yours doing what it is supposed to? Do you know what it is supposed to do?

It did not take long for the HSE teams to get back into the swing of things after our summer holiday.

Already we have been out and about making sure that those needing to work at heights are protected against the risks of a fall.

Check out some of our recent work in our latest project compilation.

Decisions are never made in a vacuum.

No worker ever turns up and just decides that today is the day they are going to have a tragic accident.

How workplaces operate, the acceptable attitudes and decisions made at the top of the chain days and months prior all have a role to place in why accidents happen.

As the saying goes, prior planning prevents poor performance.

When it comes to working at height it can also help prevent possible progress problems.

Taking the time to plan out work safely is something that far too many of us simply do not do. And not doing that is placing people in harm's way.

Drum roll, please!

We have reached the big moment. What was HSE's most popular blog post of 2025?

That our most popular post is an explainer of the most commonly used tool in workplaces not just across Australia but across the world is probably not that much of a surprise.

What is the hierarchy of control?

Find out here: https://heightsafety.net/news/what-is-the-hierarchy-of-control/

This is the question more of you wanted answering than anything else. What are the different levels? How do you apply them? What does each involve?

All questions that can be answered within.

And, if you are after a version that is more specific to fall protection, you can read this post here: https://heightsafety.net/news/the-hierarchy-of-control-and-height-safety/
